I don't know who these people are, but the GC presenter utterly destroys the woke guy who really just hems and hums and haws and has not a single logical argument.

Love it!

"Adam: brings up anecdote.
Joe Rogan: Okay well if we're talking about anecdotes how about these?
Adam: Well let's stop talking about anecdotes, we're getting off track........So I know this one trans woman..."

"Adam: Um --- I'm not an expert but my trans friend says..."

"Adam: Um can you repeat that question? Um Ah suicide identity comfortable respect inclusive um - identity um I've reached my limit on stuff on this topic um this lady is really good on comedy um pop-pop-pop um it's a complex subject*

Presenter: "My entire concern is that we are making decisions for children.*

Adam: I don't agree.

Apparently both these guys have shows or podcasts in the US; possibly the presenter here is the fumbling 'I'm not an expert but I have a trans friend" Adam.

This is excellent. Should be compulsory viewing for all.

Datun · 23/04/2019 11:00

The woke guy is a completely uninformed fool. His only information and experience is talking to his trans mate. Something which is clear almost immediately. And makes his opinion worthless.

It's also worth noting that the only transwomen he knows are heterosexual, late transitioners, specifically military veterans. He's not talking about men with gender dysphoria, he's talking about autogynephiles. Only he has no idea, because he doesn't understand the typology.

And it has long been observed that it is largely late transitioning men who advocate hormone treatment for children, as it supports their narrative of having always been female - despite this chap saying that his transwomen friends don't like to discuss what's in their own pants. Well dur.

The other chap is only just beginning to understand the issues. And does, at least, wholly disagree with puberty blockers for children.

And I agree, the woke chap makes my palm itch to an alarming degree. Going onto a radio program, talking absolute bollocks, whilst admitting that he's talking bollocks, and yet still thinks that anyone is under the impression that he is remotely credible.

It's patriarchy in action.

Lamaha · 23/04/2019 11:36

Apparently the woke guy has a comedy TV show called Adam Ruins everything. He needs an episode called Wokeness Ruins Adam!

I don't know much about Joe Rogan but I've seen a couple of his YouTube videos, he's very concerned re women's sport. I think being in USA he probably has to try to seem a little sensitive and PC but overall I'm pretty sure we can safely say he is gender critical.

FannyCann · 23/04/2019 11:48

The other guy is a prat.

And I love the argument re sport that soon there will be young athletes coming through who transitioned as children and don't have the same physiological advantages as men who transitioned as an adult.
That will NEVER happen for the simple reason that elite athletes are sporty from an early age and spend their childhood training hard before and after school, building skills, balance, hand eye coordination (tennis etc), developing muscle and muscle memory.

Trans kids spend their childhoods trailing round therapists and doctors, obsessing about their gender and appearance and then if they progress to puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery destroying their health and spending much time in hospital and recuperating from surgery (see Jazz Jennings).

Datun · 23/04/2019 12:26

Completed agree fanny, not to mention the fact that puberty blockers affect bone density. Elite athletes not being known for their fragility.

TackyTriceratops · 23/04/2019 12:52

Wokey says the hormones that trans people take have really profound effects on the body, in response to sports unfair advantage question.

Then promotes children taking those hormones.

Dick.

Lamaha · 23/04/2019 12:54

^ This. One of the things hardly ever mentioned is the amount of time and attention devoted to transitioning as a child. It must consume the whole family, sucking all the attention, leaving no time or energy for anything, be it academics, sport, or just plain fun. Poor kids. Sad

TackyTriceratops · 23/04/2019 13:12

Yes and there's a lot of research that shows how participation in activities such as sports, arts, special interests has profound positive impacts on both mental well-being and brain development.

Obsession with self and looks isn't as healthy.

BettyDuMonde · 23/04/2019 13:29

Joe Rogan got involved in the debate due to Fallon Fox - he started out as an MMA specialist sports commentator and Fox fought two women BEFORE admitting they were biologically male (and a late transitioner to boot).

Rogan was rightly outraged but unsurprisingly got called a bigot.
Now he covers all kinds of topics and speaks to people from across the political spectrum, but he remains a champion of women’s sports.

Joe Rogan is the quickest way to get average, not-woke-just-decent men to understand the trans madness.

Agreed. He ran rings around the other chap and made him look ridiculous. Whilst just talking basic common sense.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 23/04/2019 14:14

So why can politicians not understand the issues, then?

Why have the woke folx got so much influence when they are clearly lacking evidence supporting their assertions and demands?

It's a mystery to me.

FeministCat · 23/04/2019 14:40

Joe Rogan is well known in North America for:

  1. Hosting Fear Factor
  2. Being a comedian
  3. His involvement with MMA/UFC (commentator)
  4. Now his podcast

I don’t always agree with Joe and he is friends with the Jordan Peterson type, but he is very much against transwomen/men in women’s sports. Fallon Fox was a watershed moment for him, and he has sort of shifted from being against men in women’s combat sports to seeing why it is not a good idea in any women’s sports (though he waffled/waffles at times).

He has been talking about trans issues more and more and has also shifted a bit to talk with guests about issues like the de-platforming of Megan Murphy (which he also takes issues with and is very against limiting free speech at all whether it is Megan Murphy or Alex Jones).

He’s still a sexist bloke (and will agree with Peterson about not being a pay gap and such when I have heard him), but he is also the dumb man’s smart man, and I know a lot of men who listen to him and who will develop some of their own understanding about trans issues from him, so I think on this respect he is a good voice.

Adam is also an entertainer/comedian, does a spot called Adam Ruins Everything and can be humorous but I am not at all surprised he was in over his head here.

FeministCat · 23/04/2019 14:47

Meant to continue...

Adam probably has not had quite the exposure Joe has had to people/guests critical of genderism (like Peterson or Sam Harris) as well as exposure to women’s sports and men in them; I suspect Adam’s experience is more limited to his trans friend and more limited to the entertainment crowd which is going to be more “woke” or silent on these issues, whereas Joe crosses a few more audiences and crowds.

AnyOldPrion · 23/04/2019 14:48

It's also worth noting that the only transwomen he knows are heterosexual, late transitioners, specifically military veterans. He's not talking about men with gender dysphoria, he's talking about autogynephiles. Only he has no idea, because he doesn't understand the typology.

And he’s fully swallowed the whole “we have to involve trans people in every conversation” mantra.

FannyCann · 23/04/2019 14:57

Fox fought two women BEFORE admitting they were biologically male (and a late transitioner to boot).

I did NOT know that - that Fallon Fox didn't admit to being biologically male initially. Is that when that poor woman had her face smashed in?
Adding extra toppings of outrageousness here. Angry

SarahTancredi · 23/04/2019 15:19

So which is it? Theres no advantage as hormones have a profound affect on the body. But then transing kids will remove the advantage ?

What advantage? I didn't think there was one.

I find the refusal to accept there are people who have regretted transition disturbing. He gets desperate to move the conversation as he cant answer but when it moves on to children he cant answer either.

And how close is this friend that you dont even know they age of the kid? What makes him.think.he would confide in him.at all if there are merely acquaintances.

And define spoke to. In depth conversation ? Read through their research ( doubtful as he couldn't quote any of it or even tell you what it said really) or did you say hi at a book signing?
And as for trans friends. How many do you have. At 0.1 percent of the population now likely is it you have enough trans friends to make the kind of points you are making.

He tripped himself up countless times. Sounds like hes done nothing more than read a PL article or something.

WrathofscumKlop · 23/04/2019 16:22

It is worth noting that Joe Rogan's podcasts have a huge following.

1.5 million views since 19th April.

He has spoken very succinctly about the dangers of having a man compete as a woman in the womens MMA.
He is a popular media voice that many men will listen and take note.

Glad to hear he repeated the argument against medicating children. Several times.
Adam was absolutely trounced.

It's a pity he didn't mention safeguarding though as I think he has a young daughter.

WrathofscumKlop · 23/04/2019 16:40

Joe is on board with the problem of TW in sports.

JessicaWakefieldSV · 23/04/2019 16:52

I couldn’t watch all of that, that Adam guy is too much of a moron who had really nothing to say other than, ‘well my friends’ and ‘ I’m not an expert but things are changing and none of this Male female stuff will matter in 30 years’. What a doofus.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 23/04/2019 17:23

“I’m not an expert in this”

Clearly
