I don''t think this has been shared yet? Should be interesting...

In this brand new, one-day conference, we explore the relationships between autism, gender, and sexuality. Evidence suggests that there is a greater proportion of autistic people with gender dysphoria than among the general public. (Heylens G. et al, 2018) Also, that many autistic people identity as LGBTQI+ and that these identities may differ and fluctuate over a lifetime.
Why is there a high prevalence of gender and sexual orientation diversity amongst autistic people? What specific challenges do autistic LGBTQI+ individuals face? How can autistic people best be supported in exploring their sexual and gender identity?

Attendees will hear personal insight, reports of best practice, have the opportunity to put their questions to the experts and contribute to discussions.

Yes indeed... anyone know much about the speakers? Seems a good spread and hopefully indeed a brave and interesting conference

Hmm - I think this conference is of the Kool aid - gender evangelist type.

This is a re-education camp pushed by TRAs so they can do their indoctrination thing. Justifying sterilising non conforming people etc.

In my dreams they'd have a robust academic debate about why the sudden increase in the numbers of trans identifying autistic kids.
I have a friend who's an autism advisor, she's worked in SEN for over 20 years. It's only in the last couple that she's seen this. Now she says 5 young women in her care identify as boys. That's a huge increase.

Poor poor kids. My heart breaks.

ShiveringCoyote · 19/04/2019 07:54

They come for the lesbians, the gays, the autistics. Who's next?

Catinaflap · 19/04/2019 08:35

They also come for the gender non-conforming, the sexually abused & traumatised. Any even slightly vulnerable kid, essentially Sad. I can't help but be reminded of the loathsome child-catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Angry

Dr Wenn Lawson coming to the UK very soon. I need to read more of the site, but as keynote speaker his views are likely to give an indication of the direction and content of the conference.

On his FAQ page.

What is the connection between autism and gender variance?
There may not be a connection between autism and gender variance. However, gender variance appears to occur more often in the autistic community. This may be because individuals are more likely to live honestly and not feel peer pressured into being who they are not. Research is still out on this one!
