Prima Donna festival

Someone sent me a link to a new festival, Prima Donna.

When I first heard about it it was presented as a women's festival (hence the name) but now it seems to have been diluted:

Primadonna is a new and inclusive festival celebrating the creative community, giving prominence to work by women

It strikes me as rather unfortunate that John Boyne is their headliner. And I note the use of 'inclusive'.

Not quite sure how a woman-centred festival ends up being headlined by a man who's latest novel is centred on transgender issues. Seems very much like a shot in the foot to me. Is anyone thinking of going?

No. Seems like fake-woke BS to me.

It sounds a bit like that awful Women's Festival we talked about a wee while ago.

Yes, Lass.

‘Womans’ festival

  • there you go I’ve fixed it. Or maybe it’s

‘woman’s? Festival’
‘woman’s festival?’
‘Womxns penisfest’?
Oh got it ‘Manfest’

Guyliner · 15/04/2019 20:19

It's hilarious that they'd have a womans festival and a male headliner. Did literally no one question it?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 15/04/2019 20:31

Although do we know is he is a man. Maybe we shouldn’t assume gender. Perhaps he is a woman after all.

God the logic of small children.

Guyliner · 15/04/2019 20:40

Well if he is a woman it would explain the pasting he's getting on twitter.

Erythronium · 15/04/2019 20:41

The name of the festival is dire too.

Oh God, I really couldn't think of a worse way to spend my time, listening to worthies going on about who constitutes women these days.

Although it would be fab if I only had the courage to turn up as a GC feminist and call them out on XX and XY chromosomes, but when I try this in real life, I find I might as well be talking to the wall.

And it would make me sad if I turned up and found women that I have admired up to now, trying to prove how Woke they are and how inclusive they are.

And I sign off as always asking why is it always women who have to be inclusive?

Did someone find a new female friendly way of breaking up women's liberation from the inside by asking us to forget about women for a while and consider being inclusive instead.

Yes. You've hit the nail on the head.
