Thought this might be of interest to some...

For Women Scotland is a nationwide group founded in June 2018 to safeguard and strengthen the rights of women and girls. Our campaign focuses on proposed changes by the Scottish Government to devolved legislation: we aim to ensure that women will be consulted throughout this process.

Important and far-reaching legislative changes are affecting women and girls in many countries across the world. We are delighted Meghan Murphy and Bec Wonders have accepted our invitation to speak in Glasgow about their experiences in Canada, and consider similarities to the proposed changes in Scotland.

confused by this quote in above article, from the Trans Alliance:

'"I think the vast majority of the Scottish public do want people to live with dignity ....they want some more MDF cubicles in changing rooms, they don't want to ban all trans people."'

Is this some new category of trans persons, or does he really mean medium density fibreboard?

It seems that the live tweets for the meeting including Meghan Murphy and Becca from Vancouver Public Library displayed via #MeghanSP are unavailable for some reason.

Another source for live tweets is this Twitter account:

That is a brilliant quote from Meghan on the BBC website

JackyHolyoake · 22/05/2019 20:43

From BBC report:

" "Trans people have for decades being using changing rooms and toilets without an issue ," he [James Morton of Scottish Trans Alliance] said.

The problem here, James, is that you haven't actually consulted any women and girls about evidence to verify the statement you make about there being no issue..

Women and girls are far too scared to challenge any cross-dressing male in their private spaces exactly because of the risk of male aggression and violence. These men have been violating the boundaries of women and girls for what you claim to be decades fully against our consent. These men have forced themselves on women and girls and women and girls were never asked if this was acceptable to them.

So the issue here, James, is that women and girls have never consented to those cross dressing males being able to access our private spaces.

Thus, what we have here is James advocating for men who engage in expressing rape culture; that is, the violation of the boundaries of women and girls against their consent.

My husband commented on Meghan when he got home from work having heard her at 7.15. He was impressed with the way she spoke and didn't think much of transactivists wanting getting a GRC to be cheap and quick. Identifying permanently as the opposite sex and a life of wanting people to treat you as a woman when you are male should be difficult and you should have to have severe gender dysphoria to go through with it.

JackyHolyoake · 22/05/2019 21:50

The issue here is:

do women and girls consent to men denying them their right to impose their own boundaries to safeguard themselves from male sexual offence? [See: www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2003/42/contents ]

We all know as fact that no human can ever change sex. So, we all know as fact that the convolutions of transgenderist ideology and practice is a falsehood. [Hint: "trangenderism" is a male sexual fetish / paraphilia - see also autogynephilia.]

The question that must be answered is:

do women and girls consent to such behaviour by men being imposed upon them?

sheteheyhim · 22/05/2019 22:39

Wasn’t sure if I’d be free but now I am it’s sold out. That’s good but annoyed I’ll miss it!

ScrimshawTheSecond · 22/05/2019 22:56

I hope someone will report back from it/live tweet it. Or will it be streamed, even?

LatinforTelly · 22/05/2019 23:47

I've pmed you, CharlieParley, hope that's ok.

CharlieParley · 23/05/2019 12:20

Right back at ya

SusanSmithFWS · 23/05/2019 19:08

sheteheyhim we have a waiting list, so worth putting your name down. Often people can't make at last minute so we'd like tickets to go to a good home!

Mrscaindingle · 23/05/2019 19:27

When do they announce the venue? I'm going to be busy at work tomorrow and it's going to be a rush to get there on time as I'm sure it will be for most of us. I'm worried I'm going to miss it somehow.

SusanSmithFWS · 23/05/2019 20:25

At around noon. Hope that gives you time!

JackyHolyoake · 23/05/2019 20:30

SusanSmithFWS Is there a livestream planned for the Glasgow meeting or will it be live tweeted via a hashtag thread? Will it be filmed to publish later via You Tube?

SusanSmithFWS · 23/05/2019 21:01

Not a livestream, but it will be filmed and put up later on our YouTube. Will post when it is up.

JackyHolyoake · 23/05/2019 21:23

Thank you, Susan. I look forward to the video.

LillithsFamiliar · 24/05/2019 11:28

Looking forward to finding out where it is so I can work out my timings for the rest of the afternoon.

Trinalbcnotanonman · 24/05/2019 16:53

The hashtag is #FWSGlasgow

sheteheyhim · 24/05/2019 17:52

Sorted getting a ticket with the assistance of another helpful MN stalwart Smile Just got to get there on time after sending my DD off to Guide camp.

Trinalbcnotanonman · 24/05/2019 18:48

And the screens are down and the cats are cute.

2rebecca · 24/05/2019 18:52

At venue, no protestors, just had a nice chat to my son outside who commented "there are lots of your demographic here"! All very relaxed. Nice coffee machine, sunny patio.

Trinalbcnotanonman · 24/05/2019 18:57

Got id'd but there's no alcohol. 😁Gin
