Finally - a sportsman is found guilty of rape

Have been following the case of the cricketer Alex Hepburn, who was charged with raping a woman who had had consensual sex with his friend - when the original jury couldn't reach a verdict in January, I felt sure that this would be another case like the Ulster rugby case so I was pleased to see him found guilty of at least one count of rape (although not the other - not sure how that happens).

Similar to the Ulster case in that it involves a vile exchange of WhatsApp messages between Hepburn and his mates which just shows how much contempt some men have for women. It should be unbelievable how much some of them hate us, yet it seems all too familiar really.

Humber - the two of them were dropped from the Lions tour this year because of their association with the case. I wish more sportsmen would face consequences for this sort of behaviour. I was surprised but pleased that Ulster and Ireland got rid of Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding even though a jury deemed them innocent of rape. The only hope we have of the culture changing is if these men realise that their behaviour is unacceptable even if it isn't ruled criminal behaviour.

This is something I don't understand. If I were a football manager or whatever other sport I would have zero tolerance of all these behaviours that seem to be tolerated - drink/drugs, club brawls, drink driving, sexual misbehaviour (for want of a better word for the WhatsApp group)
For every "talented" team member there are twenty talented up and coming mustard keen other players trying for a chance.
I wish they would demand some sort of standard and stick to it. I get so sick of reading about these sorts of cases.
