Basic trans thread?

Is there a thread where the problems with the TRA agenda are set out in a basic way, for those who are examining the issue for the first time? I've read around it for a while but I'm getting confused. My memory is bloody awful. I totally get that penises over the age of 8 are unwelcome in women's toilets and dv shelters, but beyond that I've forgotten what exactly the issues are. Thanks if anyone can link to an idiot-proof thread.

Oh and I get the language problem too. That noone should have to (by law) call a man a woman or vice versa.

Most DV shelters have an upper age limit of 15 for teenage boys. Not 8.

That thread should be pinned. So many new people joining, and it's really hard to sift through all the topics and not really understanding the issue. It's hard to keep up even if you've been here a few months.
