BBC news doing a piece on Korfball - a sport which allows men and women to play against each other but with caveats to protect women from the additional size and strength of the men and acknowledging that the obvious disparity between size and strength of the sexes is an issue.

Amazing...

Aah, the BBC is just so confused, poor thing!

DpWm · 06/04/2019 07:52

Surely this is denying the existence of someone?

I haven't played Korfball for years, Great game Smile

I am just watching this.
I wondered if anyone had started a thread.
It raises so many questions.
I can't figure out whether it is naive, disingenuous or deliberate.

I've just watched that.
As it was the BBC, when they introduced it as a 'mixed gender' sport I was expecting them to gloss over the rules that consider the women players, so am pleased that they didn't .
They actually made it clear. There are physical differences between the sexes! Who knew?

PlumPorter · 06/04/2019 10:49

I saw it repeated later. They pointed to the man who was much taller and bigger than the women (who they admitted were much smaller) and said it wasn't fair that someone should be able to dominate the game because of their size and so there are strict rules in place to counter this.

Big male playing sport with small females will dominate it.

Who knew!!

My thoughts exactly.

But then I just concluded that they'd say it was different if the male person has chosen a typically girl's name for themselves and wears pink.

Yes - any big male person who identifies as a woman will presumably be able to play as one of the women team members and entirely destroy the point of the sport.
