National Review article - The ‘Trans’ Child as Experimental Guinea Pig

Madeleine Kearns has written a very good piece for the National Review.

It lays out very clearly the issues with gender affirmation treatment in Europe and the US.

This quote was particularly disturbing

Parents who are unimpressed by transgender theory, or who suspect there are other reasons for their child’s gender dysphoria, may not have a choice in the matter. Earlier this year the Daily Mail reported that a British teenage boy with autism had been taken into care because his parents refused to treat him as a girl. And I spoke to the father of Sofia (not her real name), a 15-year-old girl living in Spain. “Our daughter,” he told me,

declared she was a boy when an older boyfriend came on the scene. We found violent and misogynistic pornography on her phone. Later we found out that at least two of this boy’s ex-girlfriends had had double mastectomies. . . . He seemed obsessed with girls getting their breasts cut off [and] advertised on social media where girls could get their breasts removed in Spain. . . . He [the boyfriend] then reported us to the police, . . . but when Sofia threatened suicide, social workers were brought in to help reconcile our family. The social workers turned out to be transgender activists. Now Sofia has been taken into state custody, where she plans to undergo sex-change treatments.

Good piece - thanks for posting it OvaHere

I hate that I'm not even shocked by this shit anymore.

"According to a 2017 Pew Research poll, 54 percent of Americans believe that whether someone is male or female depends on his or her birth sex (and 44 percent do not). "

54% ! That's unbelievably low. I wonder how the question was phrased.

TeaForDad · 05/04/2019 13:59

That boy described sounds like an actual psychopath

JaneJeffer · 05/04/2019 15:42

"Under such a grave misapplication of the term “conversion therapy,” therapists may have no choice but to provide “gender affirmation,” which in many cases amounts to an actual conversion: the attempt to turn a female child into a male child or vice versa by mutilating his or her body."
Awful.

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 05/04/2019 20:37

I honestly feel sick when I read articles like this, why is society allowing this to happen to our children? It's barbaric and so unethical.

Lamaha · 05/04/2019 20:51

Shockingly low. Is this the US divide between liberals and conservatives showing?

KataraJean · 05/04/2019 21:36

Sorry I have only got to the bit where she says theories of gender identity were pioneered by sexologists - does anyone know who is meant here?

Ereshkigal · 05/04/2019 21:36

Probably Harry Benjamin and John Money?

KataraJean · 05/04/2019 21:44

Thanks, have heard of Money, but not Benjamin. Will look up Flowers

This looks like the poll.

The result for Gen X is strange - why do Boomers indulge this slightly more?

Not that I'm not heartened to see that!

InionEile · 06/04/2019 00:01

Horrifying. I’m no fan of the National Review but anyone bringing these stories to light is brave. There is so much pressure on the media to be universally positive about trans issues to avoid hate and abuse.

What I can’t help thinking of is eating disorders. When I was a teenage girl, this was an issue that was constantly in the media and it seemed every girl I knew was either in recovery from an eating disorder or had one they were in denial about. There was a lot of education at the time about how bulimia and anorexia were driven by body dysmorphia. Even if a girl weighed 80lbs she only saw fat when she looked in the mirror.

How is there any difference between this and trans body dysmorphia? Why is it ok to intervene with anorexic girls with therapy and support to change how they view their bodies but when a trans boy hates their female body, we’re supposed to unquestioningly support their delusion?

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2019 00:14

45% of Americans believe in ghosts
Half of Americans believe 9/11 conspiracy theories
60% of Americans believe JFK conspiracy theories
20% of Americans believe Obama was born outside the US
80% of Americans believe in God

Ereshkigal · 06/04/2019 00:15

YY, I was just struck by Gen X being slightly more cynical.

Ereshkigal · 06/04/2019 00:16

I meant sceptical, but cynical works Grin

Iused2BanOptimist · 06/04/2019 06:03

I may have missed it but I couldn't see how many respondents took part in that survey. I always look to see the size of a survey before attaching any significance to the outcomes. Not to mention demographics and the wording of the questions.

Iused2BanOptimist · 06/04/2019 06:04

The story of "Sofia" is horrifying and tragic. Truly shocking.

CottonDuvet · 06/04/2019 06:50

That's a good article - I didn't realise that Madeleine Kearns is from Glasgow.

Thanks for posting the article Ova. I think the initial approach was to target those who felt they were outsiders, a finite number. The current rhetoric targets all children so the resultant confusion this generates can maximise the number self identifying as trans. Problem is, the nature of adolescence is to rebel, one day biological sex will become edgy rather than self obsessed gender identity.
Society needs a measured, objective approach to protecting the mental and physical health of children.Unfortunately we appear to be in the midst of mindless obedience to the Borg 🤐

I clicked through to the results and it was about 4750 people.

It is, but so obviously a TRA troll bullshitting. I'd like Twitter and the police to take it seriously though.
