Update: identifying as non-binary for work award

Can't find the old thread... but anyway, there's an award/opportunity at work, only for people who are LGBT+++. I don't remember all the categories but they included genderqueer, genderfluid and genderfree. Also K, which I'm reliably informed stands for kink lifestyle. I don't understand why someone would need a special thing at work for getting off on weeing and whips (?? I don't watch porn, I don't have a clue), but maybe I'm just old fashioned. Anyway, old fashioned or not, I'm gender free because I don't believe in gender. And I wanted the professional opportunity. (Forgive me for the vagueness - being careful because of doxxing.) And you lot were encouraging...

I ended up applying - which didn't involve saying how I met the criteria, just ticking that I did. And then I was perpexedly approached by my woke boss.
(WB "Erm... so you realise that this is for LGBT+++ employees, Somer?"
S "Yes."
WB "Erm...it was my understanding you're a straight woman...?"
S "I'm genderfree and-"
WB: "Really?"
S "Yes, and I think I need to remind you that the staff handbook recommends that no-one should assume anybody elses's gender."
WB: "Oh, terribly sorry about that.")

I then had a lovely meeting with HR where they were very keen to update my pronouns on the system. I told them that being gender free I require the box beside gender to be left empty, but that I can accept female pronouns because that's my biological sex. They were happy with this novel idea and to learn more about the difference between sex and gender. They young HR person didn't know they're not synonyms but he learns something new every day apparently.

And now... I've heard I'm shortlisted for the next round!
It's been announced to the whole company, and I've had a few bemused looks but no direct transphobia, I'm happy to report.
My longsuffering DH (works in same field) has been teased a bit for my gender identity but he's happy to suffer for the sake of my fight for equality.

It's funny how some men were perfectly happy to barge into women's experiences and spaces, but aren't too keen on women the same thing isn't it?

This is marvellous. I'd been considering coming out as NB for a while now, but it didn't quite fit. Genderfree resonates with me, though. I've updated my Twitter bio now... I am out and proud! Love to see the TRA responses when I call them out for being transphobic when they misgender me as cis.

Any and all interest in genderfree is beyond amazing. It wasn’t my idea - I read the definition and realised it fit me. That’s all. (Can I say no thank you to anything titled with this username without looking like a twat?)

Somerville's tweets really are magnificent. The righteous outrage from the wokesters at her 'appropriating' and 'taking a place meant for others' is so blind to their own hypocrisies, I am still shaking my head.

I note that the next step of critique is the vague threat about losing her job, and then it ramps up to attempting to force compliance because she is now part of the 'community' and must support every other letter without question.

This all descends into, "If you don't support us you'll be just like Caitlin Jenner. Do you want to be like CAITLIN JENNER??" and I find myself baffled that these people's genuine reaction to the nakedness of their ideology is a mixture of denial, threats and attempted shaming.

They really are a piece of work.

BlueLlamas oh they so love labelling us cis, they so love telling us we're trans if we explain that we reject gender entirely coz that's the only way we fit into their boxes, but they clearly hate it when we declare ourselves trans.

Next time I might just identify as a man who identifies as a woman. After all, gender fluid is valid, even occasional fluidity.

Plus Caitlin Jenner doesn't stick to the script. Can't be trusted. And refuses to stop publicly telling the anecdote about wearing their adolescent daughters' clothes/underwear.

And yet, likes to be consulted about all things trans.

There's also something a little cynical and world-weary about Caitlin. I guess they may have lived long enough and seen enough stuff to feel a little embarrassed about the current rose tinted specs narrative. Whilst desperately not wanting people to stop looking through those specs.

My role involves using something Accenture created and after their recent shenanigans, I'm going to refuse to use it. And for that I need to articulate exactly why without looking an uninformed fuckwit.
