Transgender cyclist's memoir details her battle with Olympic officials

This is Kristen Worley, 'who was born male and adopted from New Zealand by a conservative Toronto couple in 1966'.

Kristen has cowritten an autobiography called 'Woman Enough'

'She became the first athlete in the world to submit to the IOC's gender verification process, but the committee objected to her use of testosterone supplements, which Worley argued she needed to stay healthy.'

It's strange that someone who is 'Woman Enough' would need testosterone to keep healthy, as normally women don't have any need for testosterone at all. Hmm

It is also not clear what business someone who transitioned aged 48 has with the IOC, as you'd think they would be far too old to be competitive (pesky biology again).

Worley filed a complaint with the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, one of Canada's kangaroo courts which recently found in favour of M. Oger and is also the preferred venue of Balldemort.

Sorry correction, Worley transitioned aged 38, not 48.

Anyway:

nowtoronto.com/news/gender-trendsetter-toronto-cyclist-kristen-worley-is-changin/

Worley had testes and male testosterone levels (20-30 nmol/l) for ~25 years, then had testes removed so down to normal female level (0.5-1.5 nmol/l).

'Worley’s medical reports clearly showed that her body needed a certain level of testosterone for her overall health. At lower levels, she suffered a number of health problems and training for high performance sport became impossible. '

So got permission to take steroids as a TUE.

And then got another sick note saying 'not enough roids, I want to take more'

" subsequent health problems led her medical team to recommend increased synthetic testosterone. When she applied for an updated exemption, she was subjected to invasive gender verification testing above and beyond WADA’s usual requirements."

so basically this, er, woman doped with testosterone, which we are lied to by these lying liars from liar land, is not the 'male hormone', but just a generic hormone produced in 'different proportions' (whatever could those 'different proportion's be, oh lying ones?) , and 'male and female athletes in the same sport shared similar fitness levels' with 'testosterone overrated when it comes to athletic achievement.'

And then having done that decided they wanted to up the T a bit more, for 'health reasons', to levels which aren't disclosed but implicitly (because of the rules, which then restricted testosterone to 10 nmol/l) are several times the 'female' range and in fact in the 'male range.

And then the nasty transphobic biologists on the IOC got the hump, so they've had to write a book about the evilness of biology and gender verification and how terrible it is that someone who spent most of the adult life as a man could possibly still be considered 'male' for sporting purposes.

Just for the record:

"Testosterone preparations are not approved by the FDA for use in women. "

It has been used off-label, for low sex drive, but it doesn't work

I couldn't find the book title on Amazon.

I wasn't going to buy it, I was looking for the reviews. I expect it was self-published so KW could get it off the chest and feel better after a good old rant!

The claim made seems rather big if true:

" She became the first athlete in the world to submit to the International Olympic Committee's gender verification process, the Stockholm Consensus. An all-male jury determined she fit their biological criteria--but the IOC ultimately objected to her use of testosterone supplements. They, and other sports bodies, regard them as performance enhancing, when in fact all transitioned female athletes need the hormone to stay healthy and to compete. "

Why do 'transitioned female athletes' need testosterone to compete? Is it to make doubly sure they have a massive advantage over biological females?

And why do transitioned female athletes need hormones to stay healthy?

According to this actual medical document:

medicinesmanagement.doncasterccg.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Doncaster-and-Bassetlaw-Transgender-women-prescribing-guidance.pdf

estradiol (i.e. oestrogen) is taken by post-op MTF, and various blockers in pre-op, diuretics and other drugs

The only mention of testosterone is that it should be BELOW 1.8 nmol/l (i.e. in the normal female range). There is nothing whatsoever about testosterone being too low and requiring supplementation.

That just seems like something you would do if you are massive fucking cheat.

Worley has retired, but it is still cheating IMHO.

This all reads like a bad taste April Fool, but it is true and recent. And Worley won their case against the IOC in late 2017. I find that almost astonishing.

In part it seems because they were able to argue their case in the law court not in the IOC court, because Worley had forgotten to sign their racing licence and so was not bound by the usual closed sport-tribunal procedures.

It is almost impossible to gather real information from the reports and articles as they are peppered with such lies as "XY female athletes" nowtoronto.com/news/gender-trendsetter-toronto-cyclist-kristen-worley-is-changin/ Quite the work of gaslighting art. the articles all seem to stem from this apparent superfan article theconversation.com/athlete-health-and-fair-play-kristen-worley-case-puts-womens-sport-policy-in-the-dock-81361 fairplay!?!! and women's sport?. The fucking cheek of it.

Apparently the UCI have used that insane "XY female" wording too, but I cannot get the document to open.

Funny how Worley is now moving to NZ.

PalatineUvula · 03/04/2019 01:09

not a law court, a kangaroo court, aka 'human rights tribunal'

OP posts:
plattercake · 03/04/2019 01:20

Yes, indeed sorry Palatine. I blame the gaslighting word salad. Ontario/Toronto. That is all we need to know. Human Humen Rights Tribunal of Ontario. It is a disgrace.

andyoldlabour · 03/04/2019 09:15

This incredible article is so full of non facts it is unbelievable. It even says that 40% to 45% (maybe more) of positive doping tests may be inadvertant - really?
It then goes on to say how trans athletes have been harmed by the rules - Worley!!!
