Calls for Tavistock Clinic inquiry

Two courageous transsexual women - Leanne Mills and Jenny Randles have written a letter calling for an inquiry into possible pressure by trans rights activists on the treatment approach for children at Tavistock Clinic. This is such an important issue. Concern has already been raised by a former consultant at the clinic and by many members of staff. Children's health and futures are being put at risk by this rush to affirm and medicate. And inquiry is urgently needed.

There are indeed Knicknack - it's significant that when transwomen speak out against the bullying of activists who say they speak for trans people, they get at least as much abuse as GC women do. And when young people try to detransition they too are bullied as traitors. I hope (against hope) that this letter might make a small difference.

Jenny and I would just like to give our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has signed the petition. Over 500 is displaying on there now and still rising. You are the ones that could really make this work, and we're most happy to present the message to Matt Hancock. As Oldstyle has said, we hope against hope that our efforts might make a small difference. But we'll give it a damn good try and show the TRAs we mean business. Take care all :-)

Thanks Leanne, it beggars belief that anybody is advocating for less therapy for children in distress and it really beggars belief that anybody is advocating for more off label medication and less research for any child with any condition.

...it makes my blood boil that children are being encouraged/facilitated to being "Guinea Pigs". I was an academic researcher and (rightly) our drug-research protocols went through the most stringent appraisal before being approved, and once underway involved a Steering Committee regularly meeting to monitor progress/safety and later outcomes.

Every person volunteering to take part in the research was given very full written and verbal information before giving signed consent. To be subjecting children, who don't have the intellectual capacity to make these decisions, to these drugs which cause permanent or long-standing physical changes is unbelievable.

The public have no idea what's going on. Nor did I until very recently
