I’ve seen students physically hurt themselves by inaccurate breast binding because no one talks about this stuff and they hate their own bodies. Do they need counselling? Most definitely. Do they need to be judged and told they are just confirming to a set of cultural stereotypes? Fuck no. That is harmful and degrading.
I know other people have addressed this poster but I had to delurk to register my horror. First of all, as far as I know, there is no way of accurately binding the breasts and not doing damage. I'm sure there is a way of doing it which is particularly harmful but binding is dangerous full stop. The fact a teacher doesn't understand this is dreadful. It's like a teacher turning a blind eye knowing a student is going to be subjected to FGM on the basis they think the most basic forms of it are neutral (bearing in mind there are different degrees of being cut). It is not your job to normalise these practises. You should be speaking out against them.
Secondly, is ANYONE here judging children or teenagers who are stating they're unhappy with their sex? It's ridiculous to come on a feminist forum and indirectly accuse people of that. We are all here in part because we're concerned about these young people and the impact trans ideology is having on them. They are vulnerable and they are the victims of this movement.
Thirdly I also wish that a teacher who claims they have seen lots of kids with gender issues could understand that it's likely a very high percentage of them either have experience of sexual assault or something like autism. If you fail to understand that you will be failing to get them nudged in the direction of appropriate support.
This thread has really depressed me.
