School's equality statement - what would you think?

I'm a teacher considering applying for a new job. My concern about the school I'm looking at is that they state in their equality statement that 'we respect the confidentiality of anyone wishing gender reassignment' it doesn't specify students or staff but the implication is both. Would you run for the hills? Also they are part of a federation run by the Leather sellers Foundation, who I've seen tweet in support of mermaids and say they're very proud to fund them. I really love the look of the job otherwise but it's not looking good is it? If a student came to me to discuss gender issues I couldn't not tell her parents (it's a girls school in a very 'right on' area).

Can you apply and if offered challenge the confidentiality/safeguarding issues of this? Not looking brilliant but could be worth a conversation?

Realistically, no matter what crap is written in an equality statement, their safeguarding policy is always prioritised. It's just written naively - trans groups churn out this stuff as they don't understand safeguarding and schools take it as 'correct' because they are too intimidated to stand up to groups that will scream bigotry, transphobia and trash their reputation
I wouldn't worry too much - as an individual you would protect yourself in the same way that you do if a child discloses abuse / self harm etc. You centre the child's needs, tell them that there are some things you can't keep confidential etc... It may not be a safeguarding matter - that's part of the subsequent discussion.
What pressure groups can't do is bully teachers out of their safeguarding responsibilities - no matter how hard they try. Once you understand safeguarding and confidentiality you know that secrecy is a tool used by abusers.
If you like the school then I'd go for it.
