We need to talk about BetterHelp

BetterHelp is a controversial corporate entity offering online counselling and psychotherapy services. It advertises its services to young people via various youtube influencers including teenagers and young adults, some of whom are generating significant youtube hits, subscriptions and revenue via their youtube channels. Some of the most influential also offer a range of branded merchandise and have become young entrepreneurs.

There are many extremely concerning things about BetterHelp’s services and its use of vulnerable kids who are struggling with mental health problems and with issues relating to gender identity.

My attention and concerns were initially focussed on BetterHelp’s use of vulnerable young people as ambassadors for the widely discredited iatrogenic condition known as multiple personality disorder / dissociative identity disorder (sometimes now referred to as complex trauma).

Many sceptical, critical documentaries and news reports have been produced over the years, focussing on psychiatric abuses of vulnerable patients by abusive psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists.

A recent, excellent sceptical article interviewing former MPD/DID patients can be found here

BetterHelp is advertising its services to vulnerable young people, who make videos about dissociative identity disorder and also young people struggling with issues re gender identity.

There are myriad concerns about BetterHelp a service that appears to be involved in the harvesting of sensitive personal data (their terms and conditions re privacy and the rights to use information shared in counselling / therapy sessions are alarming) and, whether intended or not, appears to be involved in social engineering via the use of teenage youtube influencers.

This video titled
How I Feel About Gender Therapy (BetterHelp)
is of special interest on many levels. It features a 16 year old youtube influencer and entrepreneur. I would be extremely interested in the opinions of others re this video.

There are many videos on youtube alleging all kinds of problems re financial abuses, incompetent / absent therapists, privacy concerns and other issues.

There are also other videos from other vulnerable young people who identify as trans and non binary.

and from vulnerable people believing they have MPD/DID

This is extremely serious and worthy of scrutiny.
