'This seems to completely disregard those qualities that make us all uniquely individual – we are much more than our genitals or the body we have developed. How we feel and how our mind, and some would argue our soul, are arguable more important at defining us as human beings. We are not binary beings.'

Explanations like this are so irritating. It's just so ignorant and sexist. It's defining 'woman' as something unattached to the body which makes no actual sense. Not to mention I would like to be treated as more than a female body and that's what feminism has fought for, not for the denial of females existing. If you deny the existence of sex then you deny sexism.

Trans "Pride" Scotland statement above is nothing to be proud of. They are defending the indefensible which is appalling, considering supporting VAW, in the context of promoting a supposedly "family" event. They don't need to ostracise the person but the clear statement in The Times should have been left as it was. To then backtrack as if women are somehow to blame is morally reprehensible & questionable if receiving any public funding. This is declaring Open Season to other people who, as long as they identify as the "victim" (of what- a flyer??), can continue threatening women and it certainly doesn't help the perpetrator take responsibility for their actions, to prevent re-offending in the future. I hope Police Scotland consider how this could actually inflame the situation as comments in the TPS FB post suggest women who are speaking up to retain EA2010 rights might pose a threat to anyone, when there is absolutely NO evidence anywhere to suggest this is the case.

AnyOldPrion · 22/03/2019 19:52

I find this rhetoric so insulting.

If transitioning is this marvellous cure-all, then these people wouldn’t be living in fear. The implication that transitioning is the perfect answer, only the mean old world is spoiling everything as unkind people keep mentioning reality is about as delusional as saying it’s possible to change sex.

If it is so hard to negotiate life after transitioning, then transitioning doesn’t work.

The old style transitioning, which involved a great deal of counselling, so that those transitioning at least understood the limitations was a step better, at least.

But common sense says that the medical/psychological community need to return to analysis that is based on reality and fact. Affirmation of delusion is simply wrong, and Peyton is a perfect example of where all this ludicrous pressure is leading.

Edinburgh leaflets are a possible hate crime.
Funkaccino · 23/03/2019 16:17

That transpride facrbook page.

Firstly, the middle aged man who will be escorting a bunch of teens to 'protect' them. Hmm

And the "this trans eats terf" person requesting transphobic garbage be sent to him.

Hmm bet he isnt prepared to actually fight any transphobic people. Stick to women academics where the real rough stuff happens.

Orwellianmince · 25/03/2019 01:33

The Transpride facebook is even worse-Swan Ronson (states Glasgow but can see where originally from in England/other name on Timeline) incited violence again, a few hours ago, (extract): ..."this is your daily reminder to Punch A Transphobe In The Throat."
They posted just after someone offered treats (e.g. cinema etc.) for the charged offender because "vulnerable" (fortunately one honest person commented this is because of their own actions threatening violence).
There needs to be a consistent message that this is unacceptable by the Admin/Committee of that FB page who have still not taken down the first response/statement -which someone (in here I think) said sounded like a huffy teenager-except it was written by someone in their mid 30s.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 25/03/2019 13:10

Yes, that FB page is a shocker. There's also the person who's apparently a clinical fellow at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and is "disappointed" by zero tolerance to violence. Detailed in this thread:

twitter.com/AdaBeeBop/status/1110147316026171392?s=20

RedDogsBeg · 25/03/2019 13:41

I hope they've been reported not only to the Police but also to their employers and the GMC.

Ereshkigal · 25/03/2019 13:51

That's truly appalling.

Ereshkigal · 25/03/2019 13:55

Given that they are talking about the rights of POC and calling people "Becky" it's interesting that they use racist slurs to describe a black person in another tweet thread linked to in the tweet thread Alicethroughtheblackmirror has linked.

Orwellianmince · 25/03/2019 17:22

Shock @Alicethroughtheblackmirror
I wonder what the significance is of the number 33 on their Twitter profile Wink.
Ms Beeswaxx has just tweeted: They're now retweeting my tweets. Hmm

SpeakUpXXWomen · 25/03/2019 18:32

I quite like that there is transpride event.

I do not feel that the T belongs with the LGB and this is a clear distinction. I want more transpride so that pride can return to what it is meant to be.

Obviously being a first event a little publicity is needed Hmm

Orwellianmince · 25/03/2019 19:33

@SpeakUpXXWomen LGBT Community is Dead, and the T is to Blame

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 25/03/2019 22:57

That's a good article... The thing is that having their own march won't stop them also needing to be centre stage at original pride as the most important and oppressed people ever. And trying to stop lesbians turning up.

That RTing is, um, sane...

SpeakUpXXWomen · 25/03/2019 23:26

Is a good article, it will be the back up of the LGB that will help straighten class rights out for women I suppose. Can't come soon enough, I know that dam is trickling...

The repeated use of gay rights and homophobia as a false analogy for forcing transideology is wearing ragged thin.

Orwellianmince · 26/03/2019 00:14

The Dentist/clinical fellow at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde & Honorary Lecturer at University of Glasgow has shut up shop on Twitter (I read on it one of the professional bodies is looking into complaints as a matter of urgency). The TPS FB page have closed down public comments but not before I saw they "Loved" the comment by the person, mentioned above:
this is your daily reminder to Punch A Transphobe In The Throat. (there is a screenshot showing this too).
So basically a professional, who has been to numerous Further Education establishments, & probably in networks women can't access (because MtF) is egging on an English person- to do what? Punch the grand-daughters of Scottish women who weren't taught/allowed to speak the language of their grannies in the throat? Angry

R0wantrees · 26/03/2019 09:25

I don't think they view women as fully human at all - we are just sexual objects that they envy.

From the video interview with Peyton.

Peyton says realised looking at the 'glamourous' female models, "I didn't want to be with you... I wanted to be you "

Male interview nods approvingly, affirms as being "great way to describe it"

Male interviewer does not know what Peyton is describing.

Sue Donym's article 'The Elephant in the Room' is worth reading:

Aren't 'Trans Pride' events as well as (LGBT+) Pride events?

Joan is picking up Scottish Trans Alliance on the hypocrisy of their no to violence and threats tweet here
twitter.com/JoanMcAlpine/status/1111003489197543424?s=20

And there is also this stunning (and brave) picture of two of the main players in the saga, pickle bee (who claimed James Morton was only worried threats might impact money) and piroburgher (who wrote the awful statement that blamed WPUK and FWS for bringing violence on themselves) alongside the delightful Jess Bradley and James Morton themself.

Orwellianmince · 28/03/2019 02:28

Good for Joan-getting some sunlight on this. So just to be clear the 2 from left to right are Beth Douglas then Ellie Mulreany then other 2 named above JB & JM. The first 2 are pally with the Dentist, mentioned above, as in photos together on their Instagram: sukhdevparhar.
All openly trans on their Timelines & all (apart from the one with male name) displaying "male" patterned threats of violence on Social Media. Bit of a pattern all round here:
“A transgender campaign group that gave evidence to an influential parliamentary committee has publicly supported violence against women.

Members of Action for Trans Health (ATH) have issued a series of incendiary statements on social media since its supporters were involved in an attack on a 60-year-old woman in London’s Hyde Park on September 13.

The victim, Maria MacLachlan, suffered bruising after being punched by an activist widely identified on social media as Tara Flik Wood, 28, a courier who lives in London. MacLachlan was with a group of feminists who were planning to hold a meeting about gender identity.

Unlike MacLachlan and her group, ATH believes that anyone who self-identifies as a woman — without having undergone transition surgery — should be allowed to use women-only spaces such as changing rooms. The ATH extremists refer to MacLachlan and women who hold similar views as “trans-exclusionary radical feminists”, or Terfs.”

Orwellianmince · 28/03/2019 02:34

Continued-second part of the above Times article (wasn't sure if all could be posted in one comment):
...."Jess Bradley was a member of ATH’s executive committee when she gave evidence on gender equality to the women and equalities select committee in 2015.

The committee’s report recommended updating legislation to allow “self-declaration” of gender identity and to “de-medicalise” it — which is now part of a consultation launched by the government on the Gender Recognition Bill.

The Hyde Park violence has triggered the setting up of a new feminist group, Woman’s Place UK, whose co-founder Kiri Tunks said she was “horrified” by the incident.

“We need to be able to discuss this in a respectful way. Women need reserved places and separate spaces. Women’s voices must be heard.”

The trans extremists, however, appear unlikely to listen. After the attack ATH’s Edinburgh branch sent out a series of tweets defending the use of violence: “punching terfs is the same as punching Nazis. Fascism must be smashed with the greatest violence to ensure our collective liberation from it”, and “violence against terfs is always self defense”.

Bradley tweeted, “Terfs are using Nazi tactics. Don’t let it work”, and directed readers to a blog that supported the violence. The ATH account retweeted her message.

A group of 22 women including the gay activist Linda Bellos, the author Bea Campbell and the Labour peer Baroness Prosser have condemned the incident in Hyde Park.

“Violence against women is always wrong. Attempts to minimise or justify this violence . . . are deeply worrying,” they wrote.

Bradley, who is the trans officer for the National Union of Students (NUS), told The Sunday Times she no longer works for the group.

“Anything I say is not the official line of ATH. I retweeted a blog from an angry woman who had written about it. I was not there [when the attack happened]. I do not want to say anything because of the amount of harassment that has come my way because my name is on the ATH website,” she said.

The NUS declined to comment.

ATH said it was “a feminist organisation that works with many other feminist organisations . . . Our values mean opposing both misogynistic and transphobic violence.”

The London branch said it had organised the “action” and regretted “that individuals from both sides were hurt during the altercation”.

Wood did not respond to a request for comment."

Has NUS, Action for Ttans Health orThe Proud Trust (Manchester) concluded their investigations and/or commented on Jess Bradley yet?
A number of similar allegations were made against Bradley re inappropriate sexual/ sexual harrassment behaviour.

"With ATH and NUS seemingly compromised, there is a third organisation conducting an investigation, the Proud Trust, an LGBT youth charity in Manchester who run the LGBT centre in Sidney Street among other things. I have spoken to them on the phone and they have said there are a number of safeguarding concerns which have been raised and they are receiving disclosures from any individuals who will be treated with confidence and respect, supported if they wanted the police involved but otherwise nothing will happen without the consent of the individuals involved unless they were under 18 at the time as they will have a statutory duty to disclose this".

The dentist wants locking up for crimes against poetry. 33 yo but poeting like an angsty mid-teen.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 28/03/2019 08:02

Bradley was married? Never knew that.

hipsterfun · 28/03/2019 09:08

Iirc, Bradley’s XW wrote somewhere that they were married for financial reasons. I can’t imagine what that might mean.
