I really hope there is more to this because if there isn't this is disturbing. I see it as the other side of the coin of #metoo:
Woman as a sexual object = sexual assault is rife
Woman as a sexual object = a young woman wearing High Street summer clothes is so offensive she is told to get off a plane; she is insulted by other passengers and harassed to "cover up" by most of the crew
Man wearing similar clothes = perfectly fine
Drunken men regularly allowed to fly by British carriers, against their own rules = normal paying customers. Nothing to see here.
It's Thomas Cook's statement that I am dismayed about. They stand by their decision that this woman was breaking a dress code nobody has heard of. So a girl's shoulders and belly button now cause offence - not on the streets of Dubai but on a British flight from a European holiday destination.
This is nothing but misogyny, where the very existence of women is an insult to some. I hope there will be further clarification from Thomas Cook
