What a stupid fuss. There are tons of summer dresses with similar tops to that bralette if there was a dress attached to that top it would have been acceptable. The airline staff were over reacting.

AnagramBixter · 14/03/2019 10:08

She should cover up, her clothing is suitable for a beach but not a flight.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/03/2019 10:57

Would people take the same view if she was an obese, older woman? Or an obese man without a shirt

Yes i would

I am really not keen on telling people what they should wear

I work in a dress shop and the amount of women who are upset at showing their upper arms is untrue. They are very self conscious and most times their arms are better than mine!

And i am confused at the definition of beachwear, ive seen those trousers worn on the beach BUT if its bikini tops thats the problem (not that it is a bikini too) then this should be make very clear in the airport

I have seen women wearing less than that on flights, hell I once saw a guy trying to get on topless! Though to be fair, he was told to cover up or leave too. I would have thought there was more to this than just the outfit too tbh, as its not even 'bad'. If she was trying to get on in a little bra and a thong, fair enough.

If Thomas Cook have a dress code they haven't bothered publicising it. A quick Google would tell you that. It seems a but unfair to enforce a dress code you haven't bothered telling anyone about. What if the woman's friend didn't have a jacket to lend her? She would have missed her flight because TC decided to apply a dress code they never informed her of.

The top is a bralette and not a revealing one as far as bralettes go. They're sold as outerwear/summer wear not particularly beach wear. I see plenty of teens/young adults wearing them when it's warm out.

I have to say, if you're so adverse to other people's 'flesh' touching you, you should probably not be flying with budget airlines. That's your own issue to manage not other passenger's.

I was on a flight where the seats were in a v formation, so looking ahead you were looking at the passenger opposite. I could see straight up the tiny shorts of the woman opposite. That outfit was unsuitable for flying.
The girl on this flight I can't see the issue. And until the young girl was blocked from a flight last year for wearing leggings I had no idea there were dress codes for planes.
I don't see that she could have been hurting or offending anyone. She might have been uncomfortable herself, but that would have been her own fault.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 14/03/2019 13:45

Has anyone else seen this discussed on This Morning? I only saw a YouTube clip. But their ‘etiquette expert’ touches the young man and turns her to touch the back of her top, Emily is clearly not happy but obviously is in a position where she can’t say anything.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 14/03/2019 13:46

The young woman

BlackPrism · 14/03/2019 13:56

She said on Twitter that it was 'the worst thing that has ever happened to me'... which I thought was quite dramatic

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 14/03/2019 13:58

She’s young, it might be

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 14/03/2019 13:59

And until the young girl was blocked from a flight last year for wearing leggings I had no idea there were dress codes for planes.

Two women being harassed over their attire. Surely a coincidence...

PeeGreen · 14/03/2019 14:52

For some reason this old white bloke with his fetish gear wasn't a problem.

www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/US-Airways-cross-dresser-says-he-does-it-for-fun-2367005.php

but a black man with sagging trousers wasn't allowed to board.

Quite mysterious how these things seem to work.
