I didn’t know she’d had mental health problems, and basically no support, while a top flight athlete. Couldn’t ask for a better role model.

It's positive that The Guardian are even featuring Kelly Holmes given her stance on keeping sex segregation in sport.

I must admit when I saw the headline in the Guardian today about hating herself when she looked in the mirror I feared she would be backtracking following TRA abuse.

It’s nice that she gets to point out she and Martina aren’t transphobic without someone giving oxygen to the bully. Would have been nice to mention how she’s been targeted via her sponsors, but I guess the article was about more than that and may have preceded that. She’s an amazing woman though.

”You know, I had five stomach operations during my athletics career. I had twisted ovaries, really bad gynae problems. Men have no frickin’ idea of what women go through!”

It's a lovely piece. She's so honest and strong and an absolutely ideal role model for kids today.

A colonel and a dame, opposite ends of the gender spectrum wrapped up in one fabulous woman.

A very good article and an inspiring woman! I will try and listen to her podcast as it sounds fascinating. Colonel Dame Kelly - amazing!

“Half of the things you go through as an athlete, you don’t tell people. You know, I had five stomach operations during my athletics career. I had twisted ovaries, really bad gynae problems. Men have no frickin’ idea of what women go through!”

Preach!!!

She comes across so well. I saw her talking about her Mum who died of cancer fairly recently and it was just lovely. She seems like a good egg Smile

She’s so bloody amazing!

An absolute star! I love her.

Am a bit Hmm about the Groan though. Is this right hand, left hand, or a bit of judicious repositioning after recognising where the market is?

Or just having a story in the locker to roll out whenever.

Color me cynical.
