Yes it’s a scary sign of how accepted this crap is when a professional feels safe in publicising it.

There is a long history of quacks and charlatans in the transgender medical field, including Dr. John Money (paedophile), Dr Fred Berlin (got paedophiles and rapists out of prison using supposed hormone therapy - one of his patients would stop off to rape boys on the way to Berlin's clinic), Dr. Helen Webberley (convicted of running unlicensed gender clinic), Dr John Brown ('Butcher Brown', did cut-price gender surgery, and was convicted of murder after amputating a 79 year old man's leg as treatment for body integrity identity disorder), Dr. James Martin (offered same-day sex changes for children, suspended from practice)

That is shocking behaviour. The dignity of the patient is an essential concept of modern healthcare (no TW in my ward please) so this stuff blows that out of the water. And nobody operates alone if course, other theatre staff were surely aware of at least some of this.

Glad he's gone & only hope nobody else employs him.

This seems to be a prime example of the "Wild West" attitude to trans surgery that seems to prevai in the US. That and the proliferation of clincs offering trans surgeries. I pity the patients.

There was a case in this country of a surgeon who branded his initials on ?a transplanted liver iirc. He was prosecuted.

Not that it makes it much better but it was about God complex rather than fetishism.

I feel NHS oversight, and lots of policies to do with things like duty of candour etc mean this sort of thing is less likely here, and more likely to be treated with zero tolerance if discovered.

I wouldn't have that confidence in the USA.

The people he is operating on will be vulnerable, desperate, and many will have gone to god knows what lengths to find the money to pay him.

I can completely imagine someone like this having this kind of attitude. My surprise, in a similar way to Dr Harrop, is that someone supposedly intelligent enough to practice medicine could be so bloody stupid to tell everyone, in writing, that he thinks like this.

Not all plastic surgeons lack ethics and morality, many deal with patients who have genuinely disfiguring conditions and improve their lives.

His behaviour first came to light, according to the article, because of a complaint made by a Laura Jacobs, who describes herself as transfeminine. (I think from the tone of the article she is a biological man.)

He seems from the article to have treated Laura Jacobs in the way men often do treat attractive women when they’re drunk, pestering her to undo her shirt and show her boobs. He allegedly ‘invaded her space’, followed her, and urged her to dress in a sexual manner (because that’s what we pink brains do, presumably.)

Laura Jacobs really has experienced women’s lived experiences, through her interaction with this man. It doesn’t sound as though she liked the experience much.

That heart photograph is terrifyingly inappropriate, and disgusting.
