It was a fantastic article outlining the impact of language around assault/sexual violence. Using passive voice, agency etc to remove the real impact ( He raped her --> police attended an alleged incident etc...).
it was really powerful, and also a fantastic resource as an ESL teacher....but I have bloody lost the link i emailed myself. have a block of advanced class coming up and wanted to use it...
While there is heaps of literature out there on this topic, to show impact language can have on shifting blame from aggressor to victim, this article was so powerful because it gave a lot of italicized examples changing the sentence a little each time, rather than just lots of analysis.
It was AMAZING. I have been trawling google, my email etc....but turned up empty. Hoping someone here will recognise what I am talking about and post me a link!
