Someone on Facebook has just posted this, and I actually find it really insulting.

I'm terrible at thinking of comebacks but I really can't let him get away with this. I don't want to be nasty or ranty I just want a hilarious yet scathing put down.

Please help! Mumsnet are normally so good at things like this

Idiots who post stuff like this are after a reaction. Honestly the best thing you can do is to block that person, hide the post and ignore it. Some twat will post that every year, it needs total disdain and ignoring.

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 08/03/2019 15:52

It's just made me so angry. Sexism is just so casually accepted like it's nothing.

Yep. But people who post this sort of stuff aren't interesting in a debate or having their minds changed. They think it's hysterically funny, and it's like trying to discuss it with a brick wall.

Post something completely separate that is positive and inspiring. Don't waste your time getting sucked into these pointless facebook squabbles.

"Yes. You could have. Why didn't you?"

NotAllThatWise · 08/03/2019 16:05

Assassinated beauty is right, the poster just wants to get a rise out of you, but then perhaps you shouldn't let him get away with it. I can't think of anything funny. Perhaps you could 'mansplain' the joke back to sap any humour out of it.
"The joke here is that a woman who is fighting to be respected as more than a domestic servant is being criticized for not ironing a banner."
Or something like that. Which tells him that you understand the joke, but that the joke is not that funny. The last thing you want is to give him the opportunity to tell you to 'calm down dear'.

Fuckedoffat48b · 08/03/2019 16:05

I would unfriend for that.

AssassinatedBeauty · 08/03/2019 16:09

Even the joke explanation response leave you open to the "no sense of humour" jibe.

Beamur · 08/03/2019 16:16

Or just write yawn
Grin

EcclesThePeacock · 08/03/2019 16:19

Never forget, there's an easy answer to that: 'I've an excellent sense of humour... I can tell when something isn't funny'.

But yes... in this case probably best ignored.

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 08/03/2019 19:47

I ended up responding. I just posted a lighthearted gif about it being a shit joke. I just couldn't not say anything. I get what you all said but then I feel if I don't say anything that they're just getting away with it.

He didn't respond, but he did then post something else equally as sexist/anti-IWD.
