have already had to shut down an idiot asking “Why is international women’s day so important? What about us men?” Hmm

I have already and it’s only 11am Hmm
I was lucky that me asking the simple question of “On a night out with your friends, do you plan your outfit based on what is least likely to get you raped? Or do you just pick out whatever clothes you want and go?” was enough to make this particular bloke realise he was being a nob.

Two so far, but they were expected. Another two predicted. Pretty sad when you know who it will be before it even starts.

I've mostly use the Women Everywhere video from the Mash Report as a response to the pathetic goading. I know I shouldn't feed the trolls.

MrsSnippyPants · 08/03/2019 12:14

Three so far I think, but I am poking the crazies Grin

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 08/03/2019 12:31

International Men’s Day is on the 19th November

thatdamnwoman · 08/03/2019 12:33

I've already had a man ask what IWD is about and then tell me what it should be about.

stillathing · 08/03/2019 12:39

Not yet. I've instead been wished Happy I W D by two unexpected (but very lovely) people. Like it's equivalent of Christmas in my religion or something. Its very nice of them but I'm actually feeling extremely angry and ranty today and struggling to think of a non sarcastic reply.

Whatisthisfuckery · 08/03/2019 12:40

I’ve had my usual ‘why don’t we have an international mens’ day?’ You do mate, go and organise an event if you want one.

Waspnest · 08/03/2019 12:41

Could you direct them to the Richard Herring Twitter feed?

GroggyLegs · 08/03/2019 12:43

I hope you took notes?

FemalePersonator · 08/03/2019 12:50

I heard this at work. By the men. With questions about why isn't there an International Men's Day? (There is, idiots. Plus, every day is Men's Day.)

Horsewithno · 08/03/2019 12:53

Straight white men want to feel special.

Read all about it.

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/03/2019 12:58

Whatisthis that just made me laugh out loud Grin
I’m currently having a discussion with a woman on a group I’m in about how in 20 years, if my DS and my DD both apply for the same job, with the same qualifications etc, my DS is more likely to get the job than my DD because he has a penis. And how that a millimetre on the tip of the “why we have international women’s day” iceberg Hmm

But no....she’s a mother of boys, and her preschool cherubs will face just as many dangers and issues as girls will apparently Hmm
Taking every ounce of my self control to remain civil and not tell her to go take her face for a shit.

Take her face for a shit! GrinGrin

MillytantForceit · 08/03/2019 13:12

But who are these international women?

What about the ones that just stay at home?

ChesterGreySideboard · 08/03/2019 13:14

Just to remind you the Richard Herring picks them all up on twitter.
All he asks is a donation to refuge.

Slowknitter · 08/03/2019 13:20

Yup, a woman said to me 'Why isn't there a Men's Day? It's sexist.' I said 'Every day is men's day!'.

dragongirlx · 08/03/2019 13:36

I was expecting this from the resident mansplainer in the office but he is currently sulking as he was shut down earlier when he tried to butt into a discussion that I was having with two female colleagues.
Alas there is still time for it to happen

Threewheeler1 · 08/03/2019 13:44

None yet, but as a treat to myself I am avoiding contact with men today unless absolutely necessary Grin

Sounds like eveyone's a winner.

Moralitym1n1 · 08/03/2019 13:59

“On a night out with your friends, do you plan your outfit based on what is least likely to get you raped?

I'd amend this to " least likely to allow the police/a barrister/a jury decide that you invited rape or consented to sex.

No outfit makes you less or more likely to get raped, the presence of a rapist is makes you more likely to get raped".

Moralitym1n1 · 08/03/2019 14:00

*is what

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 08/03/2019 14:47

Got it from my (female) head in school Sad . I had a limited range of responses I could get away with, but I don't think she is in any doubt now re my strength of feeling on this! A shame, as we are on the same page on most subjects otherwise, being the only menpausal women amongst all the bright young things!

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/03/2019 15:10

Morality
You are very right, but he strikes me as the kind of bloke who struggles with the concept that a rapist is the only one responsible for rape....so I went with the simplest way to get my point across so not to confuse his shrivelled testicle of a brain.

I have just had a colleague cheerfully show me a picture of a IWD banner, somewhat creased, with the tag line "could have ironed it". Apparently this was highly amusing.

Njordsgrrrl · 08/03/2019 15:45

In the early hours the female radio presenter announced it was IWD and immediately said, "and yes there is a men's one on November 19th before you all start contacting us" 🙄
