Richard Garside and Debbie Hayton have contributed to this.

I can’t get behind the paywall but it looks good

I thought there was a long thread on the news of a trangender wing but I can’t see one. Did I imagine the whole thing or has it been deleted?

Can’t see beyond first para but Helen Joyce at the Economist has been awesome on this.

I'm sure many of you know this, but most libraries allow access to numerous magazines for free via apps if you are a member. It is how I read The Economist, New Scientist, and Gardeners' World Smile among many others.

Just FYI for those who are unaware, and I do still buy the occasional issue as a thank you.

"They must balance the welfare of transgender offenders with those of other prisoners, particularly women, whose safety could be threatened by prisoners who were born male. "

They have named the elephant.

Excellent. Critical thinking from The Economist, perhaps unsurprisingly they are able to focus on evidence despite lobby group pressure to ignore it.
