This should be very interesting: From Sam Smethers - CEO of Fawcetr Society

“Look out for fascinating new research from @fawcettsociety out tomorrow on the harm that we r doing to our children boxing them in with gender norms & stereotypes”

Interesting thanks for posting.

JellySlice · 06/03/2019 17:09

Hang on a sec, though, don't the Fawcett Society accept TWAW? I'm sure I read something along those lines last year.

Womaninnit · 06/03/2019 17:12

Well we shall see @JellySlice. Maybe it’s actual factual research, which is so needed... hope so

Will this be yet another "gender fluid is fab! let's let kids not be in that box but instead be in this choice of much more specific and smaller boxes!"?

This is the Fawcett Societies response to the GRA Consultation. Their research should make interesting reading!

Those splinters in Fawcett’s Arse must be starting to really ache. I hope the results of their research solves the issue for them.

WSPU · 06/03/2019 21:14

Apparently Fawcett is very divided over this. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

AbsintheFriends · 06/03/2019 21:17

I used to be a great Fawcett Soc supporter but automatically delete their emails without reading now. It would be great if tomorrow was the point when that changes, but am not hopeful.

RepealTheGRA · 07/03/2019 08:55

Ignoring the elephant in the room I see.

Womaninnit · 07/03/2019 09:25

What I don’t understand is why people’s opionions on whether they have been affected by gender stereotypes matter so much. Surely some actual incontrovertable evidence is available that it affects 100% of men and women? Who are all these people going through life believing they haven’t been affected by gender stereotypes as all

Jesus on the Today program yesterday they had two scientists who agreed (!) - that the brain is so plastic that it is affected massively by what a child is doing more. They did disagree about what effect maternal hormones have prenatally - but compared to the whole of childhood ....

They've asked for our comments on what gender stereotyping was like when we were children.
I've told them about how it was possible to not like having boobs yet still not be told you are a boy.

Fed up with Fawcett trying to sit on both sides on this.

No. You shafted women with your TWAW and we don't need female-only refuges statement. You don't get to shuffle back over quietly with no apology now that you've lost support.

Either say you got it wrong, or feck off.

ahagwearsapointybonnet · 07/03/2019 14:56

Oddly enough they are also on Twitter at the moment promoting the new Gina Rippon book debunking the idea of gendered brains Confused The cognitive dissonance is truly strong.

adultFemaleElf · 07/03/2019 17:06

I just read their GRA/Gender Q&A as they keep replying on twitter to every GC comment with a link.
Fuck me, they are woke as fuck.

Plus loads of other bollox.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 07/03/2019 21:54

I think Fawcett are starting to regret the corner they backed themselves into now.

Good.

FPFW, Women's Place and FWS etc all grow and grow and (once this particular battle is won) become the organisations for women that the Fawcett Society should have been.

martinidry · 07/03/2019 22:09

The FS isn't really the average parent's go-to organisation for solid advice and guidance. It's simply trying to make itself look o-so-important and out there. It's best ignored, really I believe this.
