Whether we agree with all of it or not, going against the general editorial stance of your own employer is a bloody brave thing to do (especially when you’ll shortly be going off on maternity leave). A lot of the other big GC journos (I’m thinking Turner, Kirkup) know their editors have got their backs. I doubt whether Hadders has that security.

I admire her hugely for putting herself on the line and I’m not going to carp if she pulls her punches. (They may even genuinely be her views - who knows?)

And I have to add - fair play to the Graun for printing it and risking the wrath of their woke US partners.

I think for the most part that is an awesome article (I have loved Hadders for many, many years...) I agree that pinning the blame on Maria Miller is in one sense wrong (she didn't create the spat), but in one sense it does get to the nub of the problem - Miller as chair of a parliamentary select committee was the person with the power to take insane twitter rantings and turn them into government policy, and for that she thoroughly deserves to be excoriated.

Anyone can see D is a trained female athelete and RM is a trained male athlete. If SD cut her hair and wore a suit and tie, you'd still be able to tell the bloody difference! Look her up in her Gladiator days (without wincing, obviously)... strong, trained woman!

But that second article shows the US madness still dominates the Guardian In second article they say : Then tennis great Martina Navratilova asserted that trans women “biologically, are still men”, and shouldn’t be allowed to compete in women’s events.........Navratilova quickly backed away from these claims, but the damage was done

Lying shites she only backed away from saying all trans competitors were cheats -from nothing else!

It was all going well for me when it minimised the need of single sex prisons because there were ‘concerns’. Nothing about women being attacked by the likes of Karen White.

Although it's a pleasant surprise to read sensible stuff on this issue in The Guardian, it's a bit like having a salad that includes pieces of shit and being pleased to have a particular mouthful that's shit-free.
