James has laid it all out

Excellent, clear and comprehensive article. This is such a challenging subject to summarise clearly yet James has managed this.

Flowers for James and all the other journalists shedding light on this murky agenda.

GerryblewuptheER · 03/03/2019 09:29

Excellent article

LizzieSiddal · 03/03/2019 09:30

Such a coherent summary of what’s been going on over the past few years, it’s made me a little teary because a year ago this article would have been unthinkable.

I’d like to say thank you to those who have stood up to the bullying tactics by the TRAs. Especially those on this forum, who’ve educated, debated and organised.Star

silentcrow · 03/03/2019 09:38

James I hereby crown you King of Connecting The Dots Grin

That article needs to go to so many people.

Wonderbag · 03/03/2019 09:47

It all seems so ridiculous, yet it can all be backed up and verified.

RaffertyFair · 03/03/2019 09:50

Excellent article. Basic common sense. I cant believe I'm praising an article from the Mail.

hackmum · 03/03/2019 10:12

The Mail on Sunday has been very very good on this. It’s just a shame that James wasn’t able to squeeze in a reference to the Helen Islan court case, but presumably deadlines didn’t allow.

WhereYouLeftIt · 03/03/2019 10:19

Just a small point - I see the article uses 'transwoman' and not 'trans woman'. That space - and the lack of it here - is significant. A trans woman is a woman who is trans - a kind of woman. Transwoman is a noun in its own right, nodding to woman in the same way that seahorse nods to horse.

Thank you James for wresting the language back to where it was originally.

needmorespace · 03/03/2019 10:38

the only thing i wish he had mentioned was safeguarding in more depth, girl guides, advice to schools etc

WhatFreshHellisCis · 03/03/2019 10:40

The real problem is that the left wing press is taking such a ‘woke’ position. Holding a gender critical view in a family of lefties is considered unpalatable which I think is unfair (brother who is superwoke believes TWAW etc.)
It’s a crying shame that the only real media support is from the hateful fail at this stage...

needmorespace · 03/03/2019 10:43

whereyouleftit
I couldn't agree more, separating the words leads to dropping it
I am so fucking sick of all this now, i really hope that this is the beginning of the end of this shite.
And I hope it gives women in other countries the courage to step up and push back.
I attended training a couple of weeks ago where a 'woke' bloke challenged our use of the word sex as opposed to gender. We hit back. Asked him what gender was, told him he was conflating the two in an effort to use a 'nicer' word. And he desisted. It was from a place of being 'kind', but we were fucking having none of it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/03/2019 10:52

I hope the MOS has paid James lots and lots of dosh for this and I hope it will print more pieces from him. He's been pursuing this topic for a long time and is so very well-informed.

I would love to see an article focussing on the shadowy figures driving this and their backgrounds - Fae, Challenors, Alex Wotsit, Bradley etc etc. The public would be horrified if they knew the half of what we know.

Can I plea for everyone to keep clicking the article? The more footfall it gets the better

The mail has 4 stories today. I think they are going for a an anti duchess of Cambridge vibe as they are also saying her child will be ‘gender fluid’

If the Duke & Duchess' baby does not conform to sex-based stereotypes and is seen in baby clothes which are not stereotypically associated with boy/girl it will have a hugely significant impact.

The pale pink for girl / pale ble for a boy is a relatively recent phenomena.

Decisions that a couple such as this make with regards simply how they dress their child may do great things.

Perhaps this is the dawn of babies wearing baby clothes and toys being toys? It could be a big shift back.

RaffertyFair · 03/03/2019 11:01

WhereYouLeftIt Well worth pointing out highlighting his use of "trasnwoman"

The difference in language may appear subtle but is actually massively important.

RaffertyFair · 03/03/2019 11:02

transwoman

LizzieSiddal · 03/03/2019 11:04

I agree, lets hope they do this. It's how we should all be bringing up our children.

Mner2019 · 03/03/2019 11:40

Excellent article. Thorough and well reasoned.

Macareaux · 03/03/2019 12:16

Brilliant James

A small plea - can we move to avoiding female pronouns for males even if it's by just referring to them as their name repeatedly.

I'd rather have clunky and honest than wrong and pandering.

Using 'she' for males (such as KW) grates and also reinforces a category error. KW is legally male. Therefore KW is not a she.

PiebaldHamster · 03/03/2019 12:17

Bravo!

andyoldlabour · 03/03/2019 12:19

Well done James Kirkup!
Any chance of seeing articles similar to this in the Guardian or Independent?
No, I thought not.

Lamaha · 03/03/2019 13:57

We can also "like" the GC comments our comment ourselves. I did!

PeakTransedAgain · 03/03/2019 15:19

👍✅

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 03/03/2019 15:36

Fabulous thank you James Flowers

theOtherPamAyres · 03/03/2019 17:41

gender neutral baby: the connection to trans issues

The Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex are supporters of Mermaids. They hosted a reception to which Susie Green was invited and Harry described their work as "amazing". Royal endorsement of Mermaids was a stamp of approval that opened doors to further funding.

James K does another magnificent job talking about the consequences of the pernicious rise of transgender activism under this government; the piss-poor response from Opposition and other MPs and the effects on public services like the police.

He deserves an award.

Melroses · 03/03/2019 17:56

James Kirkup does a fantastic job of wading through the many miles of evidence and digging down to the structure of how it all works.

Then presenting it in the right order, and in plain English.

I have followed this for some time and there is so much gaslighting it makes my brain hurt, but JK makes it look easy. So refreshing.
