Webberley is setting up in Glasgow?

This is on Transgender Scotland's Facebook page:

"For those still on the long NHS waiting lists, I received an email from genderGP to inform me they are opening an affiliate service in Glasgow city centre offering private treatment, voice therapy, counselling, injections etc... at a more affordable price than other private options
No use to me now but I have the email address to contact for more information if anyone is interested
email : [email protected]
Subject : Scottish Clinic"

I thought she was suspended? The FB thread is pretty interesting, lots of people saying they would avoid the service because they know people who landed up with liver failure under her care. Thank goodness some trans folk have sense.

Anyway, anyone know if Webberley is still practising?

I asked a medic pal - she wasn't struck off, only fined. Her husband is in practice.

It all seems very fishy to me.

The GMC / MPTS don't fine doctors. She is currently suspended from practise.

She is suspended though so she shouldn't be working as a doctor. I would imagine the process to be struck off takes longer.

She was fined £12K by Health Inspectorate Wales for running an illegal clinic.

South Wales Argus

"Webberley was ordered to pay a £12,000 fine as well as a £2,000 fine issued to her GenderGP business. She was also told to pay £11,307 costs".

So a total of £25, 307.

This was independent of any GMC action.

Imagine being a teenager so distressed that you learn the Get Hormones Script off the internet, start taking hormones to modify your healthy body then later discovering that surprise surprise not only did body modification not solve your psychological issues but that now you've got permanent liver damage.

The people validating when they should be investigating are going to be so fucked when this all comes out in the wash. That won't fix the mutilated sterile young adults whose underlying issues still remain. It is tragic.

Her husband is in practice.

He has a whole bunch of conditions attached to what he can do, including:

4. He must not prescribe controlled hormone treatment to patients without a consultation in person and which might include an appropriate physical examination.

I can't post a direct link to the page, but you can use the search function here. Just type Webberley into the surname field.

So, if she's suspended and he has limitations on what treatment he can do - how on earth can they be setting up a clinic?

Isn't the GMC paying attention?
