Dictionary definition please

Went onto website for Million Women Rise and was a bit confused. Apparently there has been 12 years of womynist revolution. Does anyone know what this means? I felt sure that it meant ‘you are a woman. Go away!’ but I might be wrong.

Basically, it's from 'womyn' a term adopted by early feminists because they objected to the 'man' part of the word (and yes, I already know that the origin of the word has nothng to do with men).

There are several reasons for this, but part of it has to do with the exclusionary nature of traditional womynism. Traditional womynism is a movement “by and for born-womyn,” meaning trans women, allies, and everyone else not born biologically female are unable to fully participate.

'Womyn' had failed to become popular long before males started to be included in feminism (except as allies). IMO it's not popular because most women were perfectly happy with 'woman' meaning adult human female, and didn't care that it includes the syllable 'man', in some cases because they understand the etymology.

I think there have been 12 years of million women rise. "Womynist" is like feminist but 1) womanism is a term more often used by black women to mean what others might term feminism 2) womynist instead of womanist is a nod to what others have explained about some people wanting to take the "man" out of "woman".
