A sincere thank you to the journalists and editors who repeatedly stand up to the aggressive trans lobby and week after week publish informed and knowledgeable pieces. Janice Turner, Andrew Gilligan, Lucy Bannerman to name just 3 of their outstanding journalists.
Today Janice Turner's column following up Martina's excellent piece last week, Andrew Gilligan following up on the scandal at the Tavistock and Nicholas Hellen writing about Stonewall losing backers because of their promotion of an aggressive trans agenda. It is a relief to see the press investigating and commenting - an antidote to #nodebate - and a lesson to the BBC and the Guardian who have forgotten their core purpose.

Flowers to all at The Times

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 23/02/2019 19:51

They are amazing, we owe them so much in driving this into the mainstream.

I'm out of free articles for Andrew Gilligan's GIDS piece, and haven't seen Nichilas'one on Stonewall. So I'm just going to hang around on your thread OP, hoping someone has some share tokens!

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/02/2019 19:53

Flowers
Lumene · 23/02/2019 19:56

Agreed. Have taken out a subscription on the basis I am happy to pay for and support good journalism.

LizzieSiddal · 23/02/2019 19:57

Flowers for all your hard work.

SalrycLuxx · 23/02/2019 19:57

I plan to subscribe when I have money again...

Bloody brilliant that at least someone (or three) is still a journalist capable of critical reasoning.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 23/02/2019 20:00

What OP said

Also great respect to the clinicians speaking out despite the immense pressure they are under to stay silent Flowers

extraspoons · 23/02/2019 20:00

Yep, completely agree. I regard the Times as the most feminist of all the newspapers. Don't forget that they stood up for working class girls by investigating and breaking he story of the Rotherham sex abuse too.

(Was it also the Times who broke the charity sex abuse scandal too, where aid workers were abusing women overseas?)

Guardian, where have you been on all this? Too busy being worried that imbeciles will cause you 'ist' or 'phobic' to speak up for the basic human rights of women and girls.

extraspoons · 23/02/2019 20:02

I plan to subscribe when I have money again..

Yep, agree here too. First thing I did when our finances improved was to subscribe because of their work in this area (and I think their journalism is excellent too).

feministfairy · 23/02/2019 20:04

Yes extraspoons. They investigated the charity sex exploitation scandal.

Unfortunately the Sports Editor seems to be one of those woke types, praising the Independent column this morning:

extraspoons · 23/02/2019 20:13

What a tosser. It's easy for him to be relaxed about males in women's sports. It will never adversely affect him.

I long ago realised that people are able to take very strong and 'brave; stances on things they will never be affected by ...

FloralBuntingIsObnoxious · 23/02/2019 20:14

You hear that rattling, squealing noise? I think it's the loose bolts working free as the wheels prepare to slip from their moorings and bring the stupid, abusive, hellbound cart to a crunching halt...

Chrysanthemum5 · 23/02/2019 20:18

Yes I now buy the times and Sunday times to support their journalistic standards. Unlike the Guardian, BBC, Independent who wouldn't know integrity and balance if they saw them

SciFiScream · 23/02/2019 20:18

I subscribed to support their journalism. The benefits of the subscription are many. Including BOGOF deals for cinema tickets!

TimeLady · 23/02/2019 20:21

Looks like that sports editor may well be the one who sent the office junior off to interview Sandra (I can't possibly lift this chair) Forgues in France

jamrollyolly · 23/02/2019 20:22

To Maureen Chadwick and her partner Kath Gotts for standing up to Stonewall on this issue. Thanks!

feministfairy · 23/02/2019 20:23

I'm sure the Times is allowed to employ a misogynistic prat as a Sports Editor just as the Guardian employs..... Grin

On many occasions, the comments below the line are a misogynists dream. But, as we constantly discuss on here - it's good to read and discuss with people from differing opinions. Off to read the sports pages to see how many articles he's written about women's sport.

Yes, thank you to Janice, Andrew, Ruth and the rest.
This insanity needs as much exposure as possible. I speak to people irl about this and most just don't believe me it is often so bonkers.
Shame on the BBC, Guardian and Independent - you have all lost your moral compass.

jamrollyolly · 23/02/2019 20:25

Sorry MC and KG, that message was supposed to start with wine!

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 23/02/2019 20:25

I have the paper version on my lap and will buy tomorrow's, too. Brave, articulate journalism. Thank you and well done!

WokerThanWoke · 23/02/2019 20:30

Yes, hear hear. I really appreciate that they are not backing down and are just ploughing on.

Just a side note on the Times - if you have a digital subscription and are able to get the app on a tablet it’s really good - all of the supplements in the weekend sections online, even the crossword and puzzles etc! Well worth it (if you have the money).

Rogueaccountant · 23/02/2019 20:57

Should it be “Bravi?”

Maybe it’s not even Latin. I’ve been wrong before.
