Miley Cyrus is in a heterosexual marriage but appears to think she has redefined it as queer and 'genderless'.

The emperor has no clothes.

Miley (famous because of her creepy dad, what a way to start) is so dim that if ever a thought tried to cross that empty head of hers it would perish of loneliness long before it reached the other side.

www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/jun/05/planning-my-wedding-as-a-non-binary-bride

reminds me of this.

So earnest.

Epiphany52 · 21/02/2019 20:50

So she marries her childhood sweetheart. But that’s far too boring so she spices it up to get more exposure to make more money and just strings some random words together.
She actually the opposite of redefining. But that’s to boring and not edgy enough

Nothing new about a woman married to a man who has had previous affairs with women, or who even continues to have affairs with women / people throughout the marriage.

Has anyone under the age of 30 ever read a book? Bisexuality / LGB life is not new. Even transgender people are not new, historically, although the extent of the mind-bending denial of biology with the new TRA agenda is certainly new.

starzig · 21/02/2019 21:00

Why is the sexuality of Miley Cirus so important to you OP?

Oh no you're wrong. Didn't you know this generation invented sex and relationships the way they should be. Living in this postmodern existence you must rage and burn against heteronormative ideals - they need a medal for educating us all on the perils of being 'just' heterosexual or homosexual. You have to be pansexual or transgender or you ain't worth shit.

Ooh you got me. I'm trans but trying to hide it so I'm really obsessed with the sexuality of Miley Cyrus

Is this thread really on the feminism board?

And this...

What I 'object' to is this having my cake and eat it look at me in my queer relationship with a man,

Jesus...how many times have I heard this shite as a bisexual woman. And here was me thinking that the "having their cake and eating it" nonsense about bisexuality was a thing of the past.

Kettleon80 · 21/02/2019 21:14

Er no....

The having her cake and eat it referred to her desire to still claim to be edgy whilst simultaneously inferring that being married to a man may make people question her credibility as an edgy rebel.

Did you even read my point? I also said I don't believe she is Bi and people should be more pissed of that she is using bisexuality as a way to gain cool points which translates into making money. That's my opinion. If you want Miley Cyrus to be an icon for bisexuality that's up to you.

RhymingRabbit · 21/02/2019 21:25

Who are you to question anyone else's sexuality?

I did read your posts... all of them..and while I do think that the article was ill advised... your posts are a little unhinged.
Your last sentence makes no sense at all if YOU read MY posts.

This whole thread is the antithesis of feminism. You have questioned a woman's sexuality, her agency, her right to do with her body as she sees fit, and her right to express her opinions. Not my kind of feminism.

I can't say I've noticed any of YOUR posts but I appreciate the lecture.

Yes I do question this woman's sexuality. I think it's is a commercialisation if homosexuality and bisexuality.

Who are you to question anyone's feminism in that case?

No Miley Cyrus does not represent feminism to me....at. All. Like I say if you truly believe she is some kind of icon for the bisexual community that's up to you.

I probably do sound unhinged when I discuss this utter tripe - because that's what it is to me and I believe it to be very, very dangerous.

But I guess you are the supreme decider of what is and isn't suitable for this board...

AbsintheFriends · 21/02/2019 21:39

From a feminist point of view, I think the problematic thing is that she is behaving in a fairly gender-conforming way, but throwing other women who make the same choices (marriage to a man, a traditional white wedding) under the bus by distancing herself from it, and signalling that she is different and consequently more interesting.

It's the 'I'm not like other girls' phenomenon. It relies on suggesting that other girls are inferior.

RhymingRabbit · 21/02/2019 21:42

Oh I see @Kettleon80, you wanted to post here and have everyone AGREE with you and when they don't you resort to playground insults and call them the thread police. Got it now.

No where did I say that Miley Cyrus represented feminism OR "an icon of bisexuality". If you care to look back at the posts you have replied to but haven't noticed you will see that I have made no comment on Miley Cyrus. My only contribution to this thread has been to call out your questionable attitudes. And if you don't like it tough.

MrsJayy · 21/02/2019 21:46

I think that is the very gist of the thread Absinthe miley and her ilk are disrespecting womens choices by making out her choice is superior and edgy she is married to a guy and there is nothing wrong with being married to a man but I guess being seen as ordinary isn't for Miley.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 21/02/2019 21:47

Woman married man. And the news is...? God so desperate...

ballsdeep · 21/02/2019 21:48

She's making a comeback. She is just trying to appeal to everyone.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 21/02/2019 21:51

I always found her to be a bit too desperate.

Kettleon80 · 21/02/2019 21:53

What playground insults? What thread police? You're the one acting all superior.

Not at all do I want everyone to agree with me. I fully expected some kind of reaction like yours to be honest. But I do get pretty annoyed at this 'women who sexualise themselves are representing feminism because as long as they are CHOOSING to sexualise themselves it ok' it's bollocks to me- which to me you were inferring with the 'how dare you question a woman and what she does with her body' etc statement. If you weren't inferring that, my apologies.

My icon of bisexuality comment was aimed at you saying I question her sexuality like it was such a terrible thing to do and like you assume she is bisexual. Yeah I do question her sexuality! It's quite clear to me that she is using this as a meal ticket and in an attempt to sound cool and make millions. That's my opinion.

Yep she wants her cake and to eat it too for exactly as Absinthefriends suggests. Nothing to do with the bisexuality.

Miley Cyrus and what she represents is the exact opposite of feminism to me so yep to me this is very relevant to this forum. If you don't agree maybe report the thread to the thread police?

@HermioneWeasley it really shouldn’t be surprising, from a statistical standpoint. There are far more straight men in the world than there are queer women, therefore if you’re into both it’s more likely that you’ll end up with a straight man.

pachyderm · 21/02/2019 22:06

That Guardian article!! I can't believe it's not from The Onion. It reads like pure satire. But then I remember I know hetero serial monogamist women who call themselves "queer" without irony. Oh how I miss the old Guardian. And the old reality 😣

Zwischenwasser · 21/02/2019 22:08

It’s amazing how many bi/pan sexual individuals end up in straight relationships. Hugely more than 50%. All the “bisexual” women I knew from my youth ended up married to men

Yes, but that’s simple probability isn’t it. The U.K. population is around 6% gay/bi. There is simply a hell of a lot more available straight men than gay women. Even without other social pressures I was always more likely to settle with a male thn a female. Despite the fact that I have no preference for male over female partners.

Zwischenwasser · 21/02/2019 22:09

Oops xpost.

Took me too long to look up the figures.
