Can we get into this new party super-quick and encourage them to centre women’s issues?

I’m so desperate to find a political home, and this new breakaway from Labour seems perfect BUT I need to know they will be on ‘our side’. They were all talking about listening to people’s opinions just now. Do you think if we bring up all the issues that we are dealing with they will pay attention?

No indication yet they wish to form a party in the 19th/20th century sense. They remain a party in parliament in the 18th century sense.

The question now is what happens to the Tory Remainers who sit in the top right-hand corner of the Commons: Soubry, Woolastone, Allen and Grieve etc.

I agree that a true leftist analysis of the oppression of the female sex class will not come from these people. I wouldn't want to be involved with them. However it can't hurt if women who are more sympathetic with them approach them for support. More support the better? Maybe. I am thinking of joining the communist party because they recently put forward their class based gender critical view. Need to look into this more though. Am a paid up labour member because I believe that a Corbyn government would benefit women in real terms e.g. better welfare and social care is always going to improve the lives of women. So am not sure if I'm allowed to be a member of two parties. Probably not. I wish prominent socialists in the labour party would improve their analysis. They don't have to be gender critical, but protecting the right of people in the female sex class to be politically engaged and have spaces to organise and to simply be able to speak harassment and job loss seems not a lot to ask from a socialist.

*speak without

Freespeecher · 18/02/2019 18:59

I believe the Communists separate the sexes in the gulags. So there's that.

Well, OP, as long as you are not Black or have some funny tinge (to say it with Angela‘s words)....

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 18/02/2019 19:16

They won't be pro-women. Chuka and Luciana will probably try to appeal to the younger voters and will turn on the woke-tap.

Berger is a heavily-pregnant woman facing extreme misogynist abuse. She's also clearly very brave and has had enough of putting up with shit. I would think she's someone who would clearly get on a personal level why women's rights matter.

Though I do get why she might not want to take any more abuse from any other groups than Corbynites and the far right.

I feel very sorry for her too and agree she has been brave. I don't fault her at all. However, there is no way in hell that she will in any way criticise the woke pro-trans movement. I am willing to bet serious cash on that one. Virtually no other MPs have, so why on earth would a young female MP do it, who is going to get totally blasted. Plus I have never had a sense that she is in any way even interested in the debate.

Deliriumoftheendless · 18/02/2019 19:48

I have no hope these will be any use.

IdaBWells · 18/02/2019 19:59

Well she was willing to walk when Momentum was trying to get her kicked out only about 10 days ago. A heavily pregnant women and they tried to get her sacked. This is one of many reasons why I cannot vote for Labour anymore. They are misogynistic bullies.

Maybe Luciana will surprise you and stand up for a biological definition of women, seeing as it’s dictating much of her existence at present.

birdsdestiny · 18/02/2019 21:30

So that's two of them who support women at least. We won't get a Party that is prepared to listen to the GC view unless we are prepared to talk to them.
