A 2018 article in the Daily Star Sunday claiming that Ian Huntley was calling himself Nicola was subject to a correction/retraction by that paper.

This 2017 article in the Daily Mail

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4225544/Soham-child-killer-wants-known-FEMALE-name.html

Cites this article in The Sun

www.thesun.co.uk/news/2866040/child-killer-ian-huntley-tells-lags-to-call-him-female-version-of-his-name-ian-as-make-up-frankland-prison/

Neither has been retracted. However Stop Funding Hate is claiming it is false

There is a slightly ambiguous response from Travelodge however Penis News are claiming total withdrawal from the Daily Mail

It's not clear why the DM are being targeted as they are merely saying 'The Sun reports'. If the Sun article is false, they should complain to The Sun. The Daily Star, a different publication and owner retracting a different article published a year later does not make a previous article false.

It's not clear why the DM are being targeted

Oh, it so is. This is Stop Funding Hate's tribal dog whistle. It's very effective. I used to apologize for posting DM links way back when myself. There are often threads here where reading or linking to the DM is presented as clear evidence of outright bigotry and Nazi tendencies at worst, foolish gullibility at best.

If Stop Funding Hate zero in on the article in the DM, it trips a switch in some people's heads and shuts off critical thought.

They have contacted a long list of advertisers telling them to pull advertising from the Mail

However it would seem that the first step would be to get the Sun to retract their story, which they haven't.

They don't seem nearly so bothered about identical stories in the Telegraph

Yeah, well, Stop Funding Hate are incredibly blinkered pillocks whose main concern is their own sense of righteous crusade. How they think they are in any way different to the caricature of the DM escapes me.

QuietContraryMary · 16/02/2019 21:49

It was a front page story complete with signed Lian autograph

twitter.com/bbcnews/status/831636401158516736

If that is a forgery I'm sure that could be showed relatively easily. Cf. Handwriting here

www.graphologyinformationcenter.com/2189-ian-huntley.php

You don't just get to claim that everything ever written is false, because one newspaper has retracted their story.

What curious timing on the retraction, though, coming mere days after the Times reported specialist provision for trans prisoners.

Huh.

If I was a cynic I might suspect Huntley was trying it on originally but realised he didn’t have a fucking prayer of getting into a women’s prison so called for a retraction. But surely not. After all no one would ever take advantage of self ID.

Clearly the timing is just a massive coincidence.

or maybe he's simply using whatever manipulations he can to gain attention and some power?

Stop Funding Hate have, in my opinion, done a great deal of good.
Like so much else, their work seems to have been appropriated by TRAs,
