....apply for a remortgage, do all of the correspondence, are the higher earner, pass all forms to husband to sign meaning he has had zero contact with the broker but the mortgage offer comes through addressed to HIM FFS!

To be fair I don't think it was them (Nationwide) I think it was the broker, as they would have been the one who filled out the forms and put him first despite liaising with me, and our broker was a woman...I will be asking her why she put him down as the primary borrower.

When I lived in France I once made the mistake of putting Mrs and Mr Fogi on our tax return. When I went to the tax office (to sort out another issue) I had to endure a huge lecture on why this was unacceptable and everyone knows it is Mr and Mrs and the tax office couldn't possibly be expected to expect a form filled out with the woman first and I had to change it in order for the form to be accepted! Hopefully things have moved on....
