Police won’t take sides

Interesting message from Cheshire Police, in this case it is about fox hunting and despite it being banned the police ‘will not take sides’Hmm

Any hurty feels or potential wrongthink though and they’ll be all over you like a rash!

The disconnect is staggering.

Police won’t take sides

I wonder what response the female students at Warwick would have had if they showed that revolting stream of rape threats to the police? Would it count as a hate crime, like re-tweeting a Limerick, and merit a knock on the door? I am getting more cynical by the day and feel the response would have been lacklustre...

ToeToToe · 06/02/2019 22:59

Fox hunting - against the law.

Tweeting limericks - not a crime.

Oooh - I wonder which got a visit from the police Hmm

RedHoodGirl · 06/02/2019 23:04

Sorry, I don’t understand what fox hunting has to do with trans people? Am I missing something?

Fazackerley · 06/02/2019 23:05

fox hunting isn't against the law.

Sexnotgender · 06/02/2019 23:07

It’s the fact that police appear not to want to take sides when actual laws are being broken.

However they’re happy to charge in and tackle any potential wrongthink despite no laws being broken.

I was highlighting the craziness.

Fox hunting is against the law. Tony Blair's govt brought it in.

ToeToToe · 06/02/2019 23:40

It's a comparison of something actually against the law - fox hunting - police tell people they 'won't take sides'.

Versus- a "non-crime" - posting an opinion on gender on twitter - get's a immediate police response.

It's not on - it needs sorting out.

MrsFogi · 06/02/2019 23:54

@RedHoodGirl I believe that this is because of the recent call by Suffolk police to a woman to "warn her" that some people had complained about her biologically factual tweets and another police force contacting a chap called HarryTheOwl about posting a limerick on Twitter. Neither of these were crimes yet the policed decided to appoint themselves as the Thought Police. Whereas, fox hunting is illegal yet the thought police won't take sides. Hmm

If this is really what's we've come to, I'm kinda glad that police funding has been cut by succesive governments. As much as I'm sad to see we live in a marginally less safe society, the freedom to express oneself should be sacrosanct.

Ereshkigal · 07/02/2019 00:29

Pretty sure no one mentioned "trans people" before you?

FloralBunting · 07/02/2019 00:40

Lolololol Eresh. Superb.

Spoken like a true abuser!

Fazackerley · 07/02/2019 04:11

yes apologies, killing a fox with dogs is against the law. A group of people getting together and riding across the countryside following a pre laid trail isn't breaking any laws. The police aren't taking sides because this is what happens during hunts today and no laws are broken.

sueanddumplings · 07/02/2019 09:54

Sadly fox hunting is still going on as hunts regularly 'accidentally' pick up a real fox's trail and 'accidentally' kill it during their pre-laid trail hunts.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/02/2019 10:13

Hunting with hounds is not against the law.

And as many pepple who say fox hunting is still going on as hunts regularly 'accidentally' pick up a real fox's trail and 'accidentally' kill it during their pre-laid trail hunts there will be as many, me included, that say that the trail hunts they know of never 'accidentally' hunt a fox. They all without fail carry scented balls, aniseed, all the stuff sabs carry, to disguise a fox trail if one is crossed.

That's why the police won't take sides.

However, limerick re-tweeters are abhorrent, fair game I say pshaw!

Fazackerley · 07/02/2019 11:30

and the evidence for this is? Yes it has happened but you do realise that hunts meet three or four times a week for 8 months. And what curiousaboutsamphire said.

And limerick re-tweeters - yes absolutely fair game

Fazackerley · 07/02/2019 11:31

left off the wink but...oh forget it...wanders off
