I am a woman.

Sometimes I'm soft and pliant, sometimes I'm assertive, sometimes I'm aggressive.

Sometimes I wear men's clothes.
Sometimes I yank on the Spanx and shimmy in a wiggle dress.

I don't shave my legs. Sometimes I trim my pits. Makeup? Excuse me while I cross my legs and laugh.

I've squeezed a few awesome human beings out of my body. I bear the scars and lifelong consequences of doing so with a mixture of pride, acceptance and distress.

I reclaim 'brave and stunning'.

I don't know about the brave bit, but I'm most certainly stunning what with the two tissues stuck up my nose to stop me drowning in mucus from my head cold...

Bowlofbabelfish · 01/02/2019 18:04

Brave and stunning always makes me think of those researchers who drop out of helicopters to tranq dart polar bears...Grin

Brave? Check.
Stunning? Literally Grin

I'm neither brave, nor stunning. I'm just a nobody, doing what I can like every other bugger for the last few millennia.

Darn. How much does an ad campaign cost?

I LOVE the idea of reclaiming brave and stunning. Our teenage daughters clearly need us to.

I am brave because I survive in a misogynistic world, where I try not to allow patriarchal stereotypes to dictate how I behave. I am brave because I do my best to support other women to do this, too. I am brave because I do my best to bring up my children, girls and boys, to do likewise.

I am stunning because I am beautiful as a woman without wedging myself into society's dictates of how I should distort my looks to fit a stereotype.

I am brave and stunning because I am doing this without expecting anyone to reward me or admire me for it.

I am brave and stunning because I'm just a nobody, doing what I can like every other bugger for the last few millennia.
