Unfortunately the tweet has now been deleted so you can’t see how royally Liam was getting his arse handed to him on Twitter, but here’s the original tweet in case your blood pressure isn’t high enough already today.

You don't have to be a feminist, or even woman to not believe that twaw. Gender Critical means just this. Not wishing anyone dead (unlike some of the nasties on the TWAW side to be honest) or any ill will.

FamilyOfAliens · 02/02/2019 15:54

We don’t “call ourselves feminists”.

We are feminists.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/02/2019 15:57

Can we 'identify as'? Its very fashionable these days...

R0wantrees · 02/02/2019 16:06

I've developed a twitch when I hear 'identify as'

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 02/02/2019 16:07

Whenever I hear it my mental autocorrect yells out 'PRETENDING TO BE'

ErrolTheDragon · 02/02/2019 16:26

There's another thread on this, but maybe the police should look at the guidelines drawn up by universities with the EHRC

Hmm that publication has published some pretty anti woman pieces recently. Deffo on the side of the boys.

R0wantrees · 02/02/2019 16:37

There's a lot of influential transactivists in Manchester.

August 2018 thread, OP RadicalFern wrote,
"People Who Oppose Trans Rights Have No Place In Labour," Says The First LGBT Mayoral Adviser

Andy Burnham, Mayr of Greater Manchester, has hired an advisor, Carl Austin-Behan, to help him think of what to do about "the row" over All-Women shortlists. Austin-Behan's solution? Party members who campaign against trans women being fully accepted as women should no longer be allowed in the party.

Austin-Behan described opposition as "Utter rubbish; if people are trans women, then they are women.”

And Brussel sprouts are from brussels I suppose. King prawns are king? Tortoise shell cats are tortoises? Seahorses are horses.....

Rogueaccountant · 02/02/2019 17:57

Transuranics are uranics.

We don’t have enough periodic table jokes on here.

SunsetBeetch · 02/02/2019 18:00

Glad to see an apology. Wonder how much trouble Liam is in?

twitter.com/GMPCityCentre/status/1091471292187009024?s=19

Earlier today, Friday 1 February, comments were made via social media which were inappropriate and offensive.

The posts have been deleted and the incident is being investigated by the Professional Standards Branch.

We would like to apologise for any upset or offence.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 02/02/2019 18:19

I find Tara's and others statements incredible really.

The main people who do not accept, and have teh potnetial to be violent to, transpeople are MEN. Men who are NOT radical feminists lol#

When you think about it for even 2 seconds you realise how utterly misogynist this whole thing is.

And aside from the nasty violent tranche of the population, most GC people are NOT radical feminsist and many are not even feminists.

In the response tweets some bloke who has had a thread on here about him said that when trans people are violently attacked the police should go through the twitter response to that as the people saying thanks for the apology are extremely likely to be violent and going out attacking people.

They really dont' live in the real world do they.

Or they're lucky > check that privilege! > if they genuinely believe that women including middle aged / elderly ones are a high risk group for committing violent attacks in public places (leaving aside the praticalities > they won't get very far as the people they are apparently attacking are going to be on average way bigger and stronger than them).

NothingOnTellyAgain · 02/02/2019 18:20

They always forget transmen too

Ooooopppps

Just not so keen on those bencunted types are they. Almost like, as long as they are doing as they're told, they don't notice them at all.

theOtherPamAyres · 03/02/2019 00:01

Wonder how much trouble Liam is in?

Liam has a perfectly good defence. He can point to his training on transphobia. He can say that, in the culture of GMP, 'Terf' is an accepted term to mean a transphobe. He can say that his mindset is no different to the Chief Constable, the GMP LGBT network, the Police Commissioner (Andy Burnham) and Manchester City Council.

He can justifiably ask: "why am I being singled out when I'm only following orders? Why did I have to find out about the controversy around policing transphobia from Twitter - why has no-one briefed me about this minefield?"

Good luck, Liam. Don't roll over and be a scapegoat for the people who have a Stonewall Diversity Champion award on their desks (see above).

crabmapper · 03/02/2019 00:25

Someone should link him to the various language experts that have stated why terf is a slur and what makes a slur...

Vixxxy · 03/02/2019 04:00

The guy saying that basically being GC means one is likely to be out being violent to transpeople..what the actual fuck.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/02/2019 08:16

But surely the actual number of attacks (and sexuality of an attacker) would demonstrate that no, hurt feelings does not = crime or intent to harm, and that those who do physically attack or menace are most likely drink men.

Just because someone gets upset/hysterical/drama llama about someone disagreeing with them - this is not a crime, nor should debate be a crime. The threats of violence ‘DIE T* SCUM’ baseball bat and pants shots etc are childish bravado and threats which I - were I in the police - would be knocking on doors for public order offences surely.
