Breach of Irish patient's contact details at hospital

Just came across a horrifying retweet.

After a now legal medical abortion at The National Maternity Hospital in Dublin, a patient received a phone call.

The man who called had her name, address and telephone number and he requested that she 'return' for a scan, but gave directions for an entirely different place.

It was followed up with a text confirming the directions.

Sensing something was wrong, the patient called the hospital who told her that they hadn't called or sent any text.

She called the number that sent the text and received abuse.

Turns out she was targeted by a religious anti abortion campaigner who has form for targeting vulnerable, pregnant women with a fake 'advisory clinic' which this patient had been directed to.

There's been an almighty breach of confidentiality here.

With hospital employees displaying logos and uniforms posting videos to onto pro life Facebook pages, this is likely to have a very off putting effect on women who need abortion services.

This is terrifying! She had already had the abortion so what were they planning to do to her? Punish her in some way? Shocked at this but it seems fake abortion clinics are common in the USA. There are as many fake clinics in NYC as real ones! From the twitter feed above.

There is something in the fervour which these types of anti-abortion campaigners target women (e.g. at clinics in the UK) that I find particularly terrifying.

That is so scary - poor woman, she must be feeling so shook up from that.

It does look like the Irish anti-abortion crowd are taking advice or their cues from American organisations.

Heard about this earlier - absolutely disgusting. This is so scary. Hope they get to the bottom of this as to who leaked this information and they are punished accordingly.

Christ that’s terrifying! Do we know what was at the address she was told to go to? Was it a private residence or an office of forced birth campaigners? Are the police involved? I would be seeking a harrasment charge and restraining order. For some reason it made me think of a documentary I watched about homophobia in Russia where a man was duped into thinking he was meeting a man but when he got to the address he was ambushed by a room full of men who tortured, humiliated and videoed him because he is gay.

This story is utterly horrifying. I hope the woman has lots of support around her. I haven't looked at it properly, but I think I saw something about a data breach from OLOL Drogheda.
