Being investigated at work

I know this isn't a FWR issue as such, but it is pertinent to the trans debate.
There was an article a couple of months ago in the Daily Mail about a transwoman complaining about the NHS not providing electolysis; I was discussing this article with a colleague and I said something along the lines of that it wasn't fair to other hirsute women if they weren't allowed to have electolysis on the NHS.
It seems that someone overheard the conversation and reported me to my bosses. An informal investigation, "a fact finding chat", has taken place and I am currently waiting to see if this is going to be takem further. FFS.
If it is taken further then I am going to defend myself with all I've got; I am prepared to die on this hill.

FamilyOfAliens · 30/01/2019 16:47

Who is telling you this, OP? Your line manager?

Are you in a union?

BinaryStar · 30/01/2019 16:48

That is crap. Have a solidarity fist bump

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 30/01/2019 16:51

Oh My God
It is absolutely unfair to women with PCOS
It's absolutely not transphobic to say that at all. You could frame it as you think it should be fair to all "women" (Even those with a male biology).

I echo the join the union advice. Join today. You need someone to have your back if it goes further.

Purplewithgreenspots · 30/01/2019 16:51

Standing with you. I’m so sorry that a perfectly reasonable comment made to a workmate is being used against you.
Apparently work is all about snitching on each other now. I’ve got to go to work tomorrow and explain why I think snitching on my workmates without good reason is not something I am willing to do.

ToeToToe · 30/01/2019 16:51

Good luck, and keep us posted Thanks

Thanks for the support. The person who did the "fact finding chat" (a few grades above me) said that they would let me know when a decision has been made. Have been in contact with my union, I could practically see my union rep rolling her eyes over the phone, she told me to wait and see what happens and to get in touch with her if any further action is taken.
I work for the NHS so any decisions will be made at a glacial pace sighs.

Concur with the union advice, if your workplace is unionised.

terryleather · 30/01/2019 16:58

More confirmation that being an actual human female and talking about it is now transphobic - the misogyny stinks like fuck while the right thinkers pretend they can't smell a thing...

glitterbiscuits · 30/01/2019 17:32

Ffs!! It will be the bloody thought police next.

Nellabella · 30/01/2019 17:35

FFS, if you've not already had the chat take someone in with you. Everywhere you work these days is like living in North Korea.

Racecardriver · 30/01/2019 17:35

You’d think the NHS wouldn’t be wasting resources on this.

papayasareyum · 30/01/2019 17:38

this is terrifying, what kind of world are we all living in, pretending that it's ok to monitor totally normal, inoffensive conversations?

SophoclesTheFox · 30/01/2019 17:47

Sorry that you’re being put through this.

My friend has also been pulled aside for The Chat at work because he (a gay man) said on a night out that he found some aspects of trans ideaology extremely homophobic. A colleague snitched on him for his “transphobia” (there is no one trans at his work).

His boss indicated that they were only having the chat so that boss could say to the complainant that they had done something, but made it clear he thought it was a spurious complaint.

Fingers crossed nothing comes of it. It’s so chilling.

"it wasn't fair to other hirsute women if they weren't allowed to have electolysis on the NHS"

Whao, you even granted them their womanhood and you are still in trouble.

Nellabella · 30/01/2019 18:08

Do not accept any warnings or anything if they offer one to you. Play awkward and don't 'smooth things over'
