Is it OK to ask ... ?

Is it OK to ask why the Transphobic List thread was deleted? I was really enjoying all the suggestions, and even made a contribution of my own, which was, would it be transphobic to ask advocates of gender free toilets to do some actual research on why women need separate facilities. I even provided a link for their education, as see below.

www.wateraid.org/us/media/female-friendly-toilet-guide-wateraid-unicef

I genuinely want to know why it is apparently transphobic now to discuss women's health issues (for example),without having to genuflect to a group of people who know that they don't have women's bodies, but petulantly protest when words like 'vagina', 'womb', 'breasts', 'menstruating', 'cervix' etc., are used.

Is this Dad transphobic for talking about his daughter's period party?

Or the New York Post for this article?

nypost.com/2018/07/16/parents-are-throwing-their-daughters-period-parties/

Women do not have to ask permission to speak, write, and talk about themselves from anyone, let alone from the kind of violent, misogynist people who now seem to have all sectors of society held hostage to their extreme views.

I am going to use a good old Kiwi expression now, and say bugger them all.

Well done, we really do need to push back at this transphobic nonsense when we women are merely stating the truth, albeit in a very witty and creative way. I am excluding genuine trans-women from my wrath as I don't believe they agree with the extreme trans-activists either. I loved the Dad talking about his daughter's period party.

Yeahnahyeah · 26/01/2019 05:56

I'm actually feeling quite despondant today, I can't believe so many people don't see what we see.
Ah feck it, I'll have a Wine
Smile

OtepotiLilliane42 · 26/01/2019 06:02

I'd join you yeah if wine didn't give me a headache!

Yeahnaheah
I'd join you but I don't have any wine in the house.
We just have to keep fighting. My sister and I bent our MPs ear re the self-id issue again the other day, particularly as he is the Minister of Health.

Yeahnahyeah · 26/01/2019 06:55

Ok, well BrewBrew for you two.
Do you think he 'got it' ?
Also, I was missing on women like the topp twins, Marilyn Waring, also Georgina Beyer, on what their views are. Probably never know tho.

Yeahnahyeah · 26/01/2019 06:56

*musing

Qcng · 26/01/2019 10:04

What reason did they give for deleting it? I wasn't on it so can't see the HQ message.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 26/01/2019 10:07

Q

The thread was transphobic

Apparently

NotBadConsidering · 26/01/2019 10:09

Which was funny, because of the posts anticipating as such, saying that to post such lists was both transphobic and not transphobic at the same time. Waddaya gonna do?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 26/01/2019 10:11

I can’t see deletion messages anymore. How come?

LangCleg · 26/01/2019 10:21

The deletion message was:

Thanks for your reports about this thread. We agree that it was transphobic and not in the spirit of Mumsnet at all, so we have deleted it.

I think taking the piss out of the ideology, as that thread did, incites such a weight of external reports, MNHQ take the path of least resistance.

Funny is as funny does, dontchaknow.

LangCleg · 26/01/2019 10:21

(I mean, has anyone even been to Classics?! Taking the piss is the Mumsnet spirit.)

ToeToToe · 26/01/2019 10:22

I think making any sort of list is transphobic.... Confused

I think if we make this thread just about the gender neutral toilets - that will be ok.

That's a very interesting piece by Water Aid - and how disheartening is it that we had exactly this type of facility in the UK for decades (maybe not enough of them in some venues...!) and they're now being taken away from us.

We're moving in the wrong direction. We had it right the first time. Women only facilities should stay - by all means add some gender neutral facilities - but don't take ours away.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/01/2019 10:24

"Men are afraid women will laugh at them, women are afraid men will kill them."

Twas ever thus.

Illyria47 · 26/01/2019 20:09

ToetoToe
Absolutely right, leave our female only toilets alone, build more uni-sex/gender neutral toilets.

Illyria47 · 26/01/2019 20:37

That thread was wickedly funny and more to the point, true,
I wish I had printed the whole thread off now. There was nothing in the thread about trans-gender people per se, we were as LangCleg stated, taking the piss and goodness me don't we need to do more of it , shine the light of satire on the whole extreme trans ideology.
Who remembers 'That Was the Week That Was' back in the day?

mum2jakie · 26/01/2019 20:43

Single sex toilets? Why on earth would we need those? It's not as though there are men like this in the world:

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/garyth-twiselton-jailed-cup-tea-2472239

OtepotiLilliane42 · 26/01/2019 22:07

Quite mum2jakie. Though at least the Judge on that case recognised that the man's cooperation with police was because he got caught, and not because he felt any geniune remorse. It would be nice to think that he will get some some sort of counselling or treatment while he is in prison, but the damage has already been done for his victims.

And the TRAs snarl at women for wanting to have our own spaces, safe from predators like that man above. Well you know what sunshines, it's not up to you to tell us what is safe or not, it's up to us, and we won't stop letting you know that.

feministfairy · 26/01/2019 22:15

He's an exceptionally dangerous man - and predictably not only is he a paedophile but he also filmed and took 152 photos at leisure centres!

But hey - let's all go for mixed sex everything to enable men like him.

newtlover · 26/01/2019 22:20

that's a great link about the female friendly toilets, thank you

OtepotiLilliane42 · 26/01/2019 22:38

No worries newtlover I put up some other links to articles about women and toilets on a thread called 'fighting for women's toilets in India.' I posted it on the 19 January, so it's on page 3 of the threads now I think.

It is ironic to think that the need for properly designed and safe toilets for women is recognised by the UN, but apparently that doesn't hold water so as to speak with governments in thrall to transgender ideology.
