Interesting piece from MMN about the different schools of feminism I didn't know there were so many!

Reading through I think I am 30% radfem, 10% eco feminist, 40% socialist feminist and 20% post modernist feminist.

Thoughts? What got missed?

There's an interesting "What feminist are you?" test

I got as far as Replacing the word God with Goddess will remind people that the deity is not male and Men should follow women's lead in religious matters, because women have a higher regard for peace than men and gave up.

I agree that race, sexuality etc plays a part. But it does annoy me that it's framed exclusively as black women having worked out of the home for generations - ALL poor women have had some work outside it. England (which is what I know best) has had women working as servants, on the docks, at harvest (and other times- milkmaids anyone?) in factories and a million and one other places. Yes, non white women have other challenges but it isn't simply that they were the only ones who worked outside the home.

Just done that quiz. I felt it was very American skewed - things like the cost of abortion. I also don't know if the race element is as strong here (UK). I Llive in a very white area so I admit I will not be exposed to the realities much but historically the treatment of races in the UK and us (and other places) varies a lot. So their experiences will too and how much their race now plays in oppression.

Is it just me, or is patriarchal society relying on the principle of divide and conquer?

KataraJean thanks very much for that explanation, makes sense to me and is borne out by the 'Courting the right' threads. I appreciate you taking the time.
