I moved back to Canada in 2016. I'm struggling to understand it myself. A certain large segment of Canadians have always considered themselves painfully "progressive" (amongst first countries to legalize same sex marriage, assisted dying, now cannabis) and are very proud of that fact. I wonder if it is because we tend to define ourselves as "not American", and we do so partly through this progressive narrative. The other thing I have noticed is the press simply is not very robust here. The sort of probing journalism that exists in the UK doesn't here. And that means that debate can't flourish. If you think the MSM are doing an overall poor job of covering these issues in the UK (though better now with Times and Telegraph now), imagine what it's like here!
There are a lot of people who don't buy into this narrative at all though, or simply don't understand the issues. I peak transed my mother today
She is fully GC!
I am honestly struggling at the moment with whether I want to raise two little girls here!
