I couldn't face making separate threads for each of these, so decided to do a roundup thread.

US;

The Obama administration introduced coercive control and financial control as forms of DV; the Trump administration has reversed this. DV now has a very limited definition in the US.

UK; Its Cervical Screening Awareness Week 2019.
The dates for Cervical Screening Awareness Week 2019 are 10 - 16 June 2019. Smear tests prevent 75% of cervical cancers.

''cervical screening rates among all ages are at their lowest for two decades.''

I’ve just read the first one and it’s chilling.

I would love to know if the judge that granted the ex unsupervised contact had ever sat down to talk through their reasoning for doing so to the mother, to understand from her how difficult it was for her to come across well as she explains and to apologise. Not that those words could do anything to help the heartbreak for her - but maybe knowing that they understand what went wrong and how they would change if they could do it again, how they will spread the message amongst their colleagues and hopefully significantly reduce the likelihood of it happening again would provide a tiny grain of solace...

Kind of assuming that they won’t have done though or even have seen the need to!

Let's not forget the woman taken to court for defaming her ex husband after accusing him of strangling her after he put his hands around her throat and squeezed hard enough to cause difficulty breathing and bruising.

''MP who blocked FGM bill is warned not to put girls in danger''

Girls will be put in real danger if a law against FGM is rejected again this week, a rebel MP has been warned.

Ahead of fresh attempts to close a legal loophole, activists have said that if Sir Christopher Chope objects again he should ‘examine his conscience.’

Last summer, the Tory politician blocked plans that would allow girls at imminent risk of being cut to be removed from their homes.

Just weeks later, he shouted down legislation that would have made ‘upskirting’ a crime.

Eurgh, Christopher Chope again. I understand that he disagrees with private members bills because he thinks that they lead to bad legislation; rather than him necessarily disagreeing with the members bill itself.
