I am wondering whether perhaps autogynephiles out and about dressed ‘as women’ perhaps see themselves as less of a threat than an average man, or think that women will see them as less of a threat than an average man, and some with violent tendencies may take advantage of that perceived naïvety, perhaps there’s something in that.

I don’t know what to say to that, I can’t get my head around why anyone would do such a thing. I’m guessing piss poor impulse control and lack of awareness or concern for consequences (hmm, male socialisation much) but why the desire to do this to someone - pure misogynistic hatred?
On an side note, interesting to see that this jurisdiction has a specific offence for violence against someone over 60. I wonder if that’s default on victim’s age or if it needs to be proven the perpetrator reasonably knew they were over 60, and what the difference in sentencing tariff is.
