From girl guiding. Please help.me word a reply

Thank you for your email.

Our E&D policy is based on the expectations set out in the Equality Act 2010. The policy was reviewed and agreed by our board of trustees and our chief commissioner group in 2016 and the guidance updated in 2017.

We have worked on our new updated guidance with Gendered Intelligence and Stonewall, and have been in dialogue with the EHRC. We have also sought legal advice and responded to questions from members and parents to make sure the guidance helps them as much as possible

The guidance that supports our volunteers to follow our E&D policy was written based on good practice and knowledge from specialist organisations that support charities like ours to look after our young trans members. However we have an annual policy review process where we look at all of our policies to check they are still fit for purpose and to update them if necessary

I hope that this answers your question.

Best wishes

If you get a proper answer I will be happy to send you some literal Gin

Thank you for not letting this go.

ChickenonaMug · 04/02/2019 17:03

I was told to expect response probably at the end of this week after their meeting today. I am hoping our responses do arrive then Gerry. If not, then I will phone again next week.

PreseaCombatir · 04/02/2019 18:23

I don’t understand how any part of safeguarding can be being followed here.
An organisation for girls, deliberately putting the needs of actual girls last is so disheartening

MonicaBellucci · 04/02/2019 18:51

Thank you OP Flowers

GerryblewuptheER · 04/02/2019 19:31

Why would they need a meeting Hmm

I just don't understand. Either they performed a risk assessment/impact assessment and informed their insurers or they didn't.

Yes or no.

Why do they need a meeting and an extra 5 days...Confused

GerryblewuptheER · 04/02/2019 19:33

chicken if its ok with you we can compare responses. Via PM if need be?

Just to see of it's the same response which would indicate a pre approved statement as opposed to a genuine response ...

Gerry I am more than happy to compare the responses we get.

GerryblewuptheER · 07/02/2019 12:52

Well here goes

They have told me what I need to know. Are proud of their equality and diversity although I may not agree with them.

Relevant precautions undertaken re insurance policies and they wont respond to any more emails

Not a single question answered re impact assessments, nor about the girls now excluded as their privacy dignity and safety can't be guaranteed , or the competing rights of protected characteristics such as disability and religion

If anyone wants to invoke the EA and take this further, please do crowdfund.

MonicaBellucci · 07/02/2019 13:00

FFS Sad

MonicaBellucci · 07/02/2019 13:00

Also supportive of a crowdfund.

GerryblewuptheER · 07/02/2019 13:02

It's very familiar isn't it.

Asking questions. Have words like diversity and equality thrown around to make it look like you are the.problem then.blocked from further communication.

I'm.takimg the lack.of answers as a " no.we didn't take girls into account"

So there you have it

ChickenonaMug · 07/02/2019 14:16

Hi Gerry and everyone. I have not had a response yet. I am quite horrified by the reply you had Gerry but I will await mine.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/02/2019 14:24

I’d be happy to contribute to a crowdfunder for a legal challenge too

BlooperReel · 07/02/2019 14:37

I would chip in to a crowd funder too. What a shitty cop out of a response

GerryblewuptheER · 07/02/2019 16:13

It is isn't.

Literally refused to answer if they had thought about girls at all.

Is there any foi thing that allows us to see the Impact assessment?

Although someone else will have to ask as I'm now.black listed for asking about what happens when disabled children who need help with intimate care and now can't be sure they get a natal woman to do it...

OP posts:
ChickenonaMug · 07/02/2019 16:38

You can't FOI a charity unfortunately.

GerryblewuptheER · 07/02/2019 16:45

Damn...

I know I was expecting a wishy washy usual response Kinda answer.

Never thought they would outright not address what happens to girls and refuse to talk any further ...

OP posts:
Melroses · 07/02/2019 16:56

You can't FOI a charity unfortunately

I expect they know this and they have good reasons for not saying anything, at least from a self-preservation viewpoint.

Datun · 07/02/2019 16:56

They have to refuse to answer.

Because they are wrong.

Women and Girls in Scotland have identified that transgender guidance breaches 15 articles on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

www.heraldscotland.com/news/17393697.trans-guidance-for-scottish-schools-breaches-11-childrens-rights-campaigners-warn/?ref=ar

They've gone running to Stonewall for help, and Stonewall have said stall them, refuse to answer, stick your fingers in your ears.

The wheels are coming off.

Fantastically well done for not giving up. Did you write seperately to the insurers OP?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/02/2019 17:13

Is there no other way to get clarity on the questions raised?

GerryblewuptheER · 07/02/2019 17:17

I was going to cc in the Insurers, but as I named them in my email, and asked some clearly controversial questions I was worried it made the email come across as too aggressive and hinder my chances of getting a response at all.

Given the caroline , harry, shark, glinner thing I have to admit to having concerns aviy being on the receiving end of similar action if I sent too many emails about the same thing

I have however been keeping an eye on the gg Twitter and face book pages to see if they had responded to any of the points raised on there.

Sadly they refuse to acknowledge anyone who asks

HumansCannotEverChangeSex · 07/02/2019 17:30

What a pathetic response. And to then refuse any future communications is quite similar to how the TRAs go about using twitter.
