Thanks to Rose of Dawn on Twitter for this, and apologies that it's so small.

I have a couple of other screenshots but they wouldn't attach. Hopefully you get the gist.

I'm calling it the Bradley effect Grin

discrimination is common (especially for disabled people, people of colour and intersex people)

stop conflating trans and intersex - you have been asked very clearly not to do this by intersex people

trans women [sic] are lacking essential services, and lack of fertility provisions are leaving trans people with unequal access to reproductive justice

why the special mention for transwomen - they just can't help themselves can they?

and being able to buy and sell control of women's wombs is 'reproductive justice' now? that's one way of putting it

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/01/2019 11:51

what were these people's degrees in? finger painting?

needmorespace · 21/01/2019 11:52

They've been doing without one throughout this whole academic year so far because Free Willy has been suspended*

I have literally just spluttered my tea at this - I'm going to be chuckling all day when I think of it GrinGrinGrin

AngryAttackKittens · 21/01/2019 11:53

Free Willy and Balldemort are the best things I've read on MN recently.

Ereshkigal · 21/01/2019 11:57

Yes they've been pushing this line for a while:

https://everydayfeminism.com/2015/11/trans-women-reproductive-justice/

What this means is that trans women who stop taking HRT for a few months can reverse sterilization and become pregnant with viable sperm. (my bold)

Weezol · 21/01/2019 12:00

I don't think everyone's favourite Women's Officer is up yet - doesn't appear to be aware of this. Watching with interest.

Popchyk · 21/01/2019 12:00

I didn't come up with that name for him, needmorespace.

Some wag on Mumsnet came up with it ages ago and I have appropriated it.

Cos I can totally do that, right?

I also started referring to his pro-boner lawyer after somebody on here came up with that particular term.

Shameless and unrepentant. That's me.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 21/01/2019 12:02

jesus eresh, that whiny fucking article

I can’t have babies. And no one in the reproductive justice movement is talking about this

yes, because it is due to a choice that you freely made

do these people ever take responsibility for their actions? or are we all expected to fix every god damn thing for them?

AngryAttackKittens · 21/01/2019 12:09

I can’t have babies. And no one in the reproductive justice movement is talking about this

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/01/2019 12:11

Makes you wonder what on earth they've uncovered on Bradley.

Weren't there accusations of sexual harassment?

Floisme · 21/01/2019 12:14

If I remember correctly (the tweets have been deleted, I think) the accusations came from within Action for Trans Health.

papayasareyum · 21/01/2019 12:14

that statement is deranged. Kids don't access support because of transphobic parents? Have they heard of safeguarding?

Ereshkigal · 21/01/2019 12:16

do these people ever take responsibility for their actions? or are we all expected to fix every god damn thing for them?

I'm pretty sure that when this person talks about "trans women getting pregnant with viable sperm" they mean some unnamed, unacknowledged female surrogate. Handmaids Tale level chilling.

Bowlofbabelfish · 21/01/2019 12:23

Yay but also NOOOOOOOOOOO don’t deprive me of the joy that is the Twitter Effluvia from the conference. Grin

Rose of Dawn on NUSTrans 18
'NUS Trans Conference: From Agender To Antifa'

Rose of Dawn identifies the throughline including Jess Bradley, Action for Trans Health, NUS trans officers etc
'What Does Co-Opting The Trans Movement Look Like?'

'Radical far-left activists often co-opt unrelated movements to enforce their ideology on others. Here, I take a look at this phenomenon taking place in the trans community.'

OrchidInTheSun · 21/01/2019 12:24

Thanks Popchyk. So both NHS LGBT officers are trans plus there was an extra space for a trans officer.

Nice for the actual gays and lesbians Hmm

R0wantrees · 21/01/2019 12:43

Eden Ladley (male transperson) was one of the NUS officers who ran the NUS Women's 18 workshop, 'How to Deal with Terfs'

April 2018 The powerpoint was being discussed on FWR thread last year when the other Women's officer Rowan Davis (male transperson) asked her cis friends to intervene. One of Davis' friends was Emma Healey, former MN intern who breached data and whose blog claimed to demonstrate (erroneously) that Mumsnetters were 'calling for a new section 28'

SkylightAndChandelier · 21/01/2019 12:56

Given that many of these young people will enter NUS-affiliated institutions, the trans student population is probably the fastest growing in NUS’ individual membership

I feel that if you want to have authority, you should know these numbers.

Carlsberg uses 'Probably' because they know they can't say they're the best lager in the world because there's nothing to back that up.

Probably is probably being used in the same way here. Because they could have these numbers if they want, and know if it is or isn't the case.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 21/01/2019 12:57

Can someone confirm

Rob Noon, NUS LGBT+ Officer (Open place)
Male man? Is he LGBT? Assume he's not a fan of uppity women anyway.

Eden Ladley, NUS LGBT+ Officer (Women’s place)
Male 'transwoman'?

Sarah Lasoye, NUS Womens’ Officer
Who is this person? If they're female, I'm willing to bet they're a "Sex work is work, give the men what they want" type. Amirite?

Popchyk · 21/01/2019 12:58

Yes, both LGBT+ roles are currently filled by people who identify as transgender.

And Jess Bradley, who also identifies as transgender, took up the NUS Trans Officer position for a while there. I don't know if anyone noticed.

So all 3 roles were filled by people who identify as transgender.

The letter makes this solemn and earnest point:

"A lack of campaigning on broader LGB issues can lead to transphobic backlash as trans people are seen as hogging the resources that should be for the broader community".

OrchidInTheSun · 21/01/2019 13:02

Sonic - Rob Noon was born female as was Sarah Lasoye. You are of course correct that Sarah is big into sex worker solidarity

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 21/01/2019 13:02

I assume the two LGBT places are an "Open" place and a "women's" place, notionally so that lesbians/bisexual women are always represented.

Which, incidentally, is how I think sports categories should be split.

But even then, the "women's" role is a male person. Seriously. So the two LGBT places are taken by Y-chromosomed humans, meaning lesbians have no voice at all?

Danaquestionseverything · 21/01/2019 13:05

I'm happy for Rose of Dawn. She has been absolutely tenacious in keeping the pressure on NUS.

I'm also gobsmacked at the, well it's either cognitive dissonance or blatant fucking ignorance, of whoever put out that statement.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 21/01/2019 13:08

Ah, thanks Orchid. Cross-posted.

So there were 3 transpeople represented out of the 6 slots (including Free Willy, arf).

Now there are 2, so the two "LGBT" roles are held by people who, I assume, don't believe that homosexuality is an acceptable orientation?

And they're whinging that "Trans" is now lacking representation?

R0wantrees · 21/01/2019 13:15

from thread

Having read her dramatic account of bravery in the face of police brutality, I was a bit disappointed to see that the reality was somewhat different.

The pushing and shoving and pipe band are funny though. Grin "

I'm fairly sure (not certain) it was mentioned that Rob Noon (NUS officer) is the female transperson carrying the banner with their top off.

Rob Noon and Jess Bradley were central to many Action for Trans Health protests and both at Manchester University.

Rob Noon and Jess Bradley were in a close relationship for some time. Rob is much younger.
