Manchester based publicly funded arts centre offers Glitter Tit painting for self-identified women

Owl and Coconut is a Mindful Arts centre in Manchester funded by the Big Lottery, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Santander, Manchester City Council and the Manchester Wellbeing Fund. They have advertised a session using your tits to make glitter paintings as an empowering workshop.

They apparently deleted their post on twitter advertising the session because they were overwhelmed by the number of responses they were getting.

There is a screenshot though.

Twitter would like to know what safeguarding they have in place for an event where women are exposing their breasts and making art with them alongside self-identified women. They haven't responded.

Also I'm not sure how putting glitter on your tits is empowering.

AGP stamped all over it.

It's fucking creepy.

Needmoresleep · 21/01/2019 00:07

Do they allow people to go along just for the Prosecco?

Mrskeats · 21/01/2019 00:09

Pass the sick bucket
Mindful arts centre Confused
Whatever

Terrible news, people.

Looks like Owl and Coconut have quietly dropped their Glitter Tits (open to all self-identifying women but we're sure that no pervs will want to come, honest) event.

Was supposed to be on Friday 8th February but it has been removed from eventbrite and is no longer on the Owl and Coconut's own events calendar.

Oh no Popchyk! Bad news indeed. Gutted. I'll have to do my own glitter tit rolling at home now [Shock

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/02/2019 18:50

Oh no

I have been prit sticking my boobs for days in preparation

MillytantForceit · 06/02/2019 19:04

AhhDamnIt · 07/02/2019 06:29

The wording (for all self-identifying women) makes it sound like it is for biological males only anyways

Yeah, that's how I read it. I don't think its intended demographic is women at all.

Melroses · 07/02/2019 08:59

It sounds like one of those things that become a really good idea when you have just drunk all the Prosecco.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 07/02/2019 09:09

I've always managed to drink loads of prosecco without ending up smearing my boobs with glitter

am I doing it wrong?

Melroses · 07/02/2019 09:17

Maybe you haven’t drunk all of it yet? There might be a crate or two left.

I did have a look through the website to see if Jess’s friends had any influence, it being in Manchester and all that, the centre of naked veganism as it looked right up their street.

Marylou2 · 07/02/2019 09:20

I live near Manchester so I’ll pop along and get the double Gs out. There’ll be no glitter left for anyone else 😆

RomanticFatigue · 07/02/2019 09:31

Maybe they didn't have as much interested from us wimmin as they expected.
Incidentally, did anyone call them out on their Men Only events?

Popchyk · 07/02/2019 09:45

A lot of people on Twitter referred to their Mindfulness for Men events (note that they state that these events are open to men, not self-identifying men). It is telling that even now they haven't changed the title of those events. Despite their "inclusion" stance.

But Owl and Coconut were unable to provide an explanation for that.

I do wish that one day somebody somewhere would try to provide an explanation as to why men are men but women are self-identifying women. I've not heard an explanation yet.

feelingverylazytoday · 07/02/2019 11:01

Lol this is funny. It reminds me of the painted ladies feature on the 10 minute preview of the old Adult channel. I bet some of these numpties think women really do this kind if thing in real life.

RockyFlintstone · 07/02/2019 11:11

Oh...

SwayingInTime · 08/02/2019 00:10

Has it maybe just moved?
manchester.carpe-diem.events/calendar/9531217-valentines-special-breast-fancy-dressing-at-boho-utopia/

But some confusion with affiliates about the nature of the audience maybe?

Melroses · 08/02/2019 08:59

Goodness, that sounds even more pervy than the first one, with all the sharing your slut shaming stuff. Not even any Prosecco for anaesthetic.

Is Goddes a non-binary Goddess/God or a typo?

Melroses · 08/02/2019 09:04

There is a lot of vegan stuff going on at that place, along with the life drawing...…..Hmm

littlbrowndog · 08/02/2019 09:16

Why just why
Everyone knows that glitter is a beastly fecker that stays around for ever

SwayingInTime · 08/02/2019 09:17

The life drawing class were very keen to state that it was for females (twice!) But they you click through and it's all loosey goosey...

Popchyk · 08/02/2019 09:25

Yeah, the Chorlton one states twice on Twitter that it is for females only.

Then later on the link to the event:

This workshop is for women, trans and non-binary people who want to celebrate their feminity.
Only 10 spaces avaiable

Entry: 22£

I mean Christ, that's just terrible.

£22?

Needmoresleep · 08/02/2019 09:33

Is this sort of event commmon in Manchester? Why?

the North is different isn't it

TinselAngel · 08/02/2019 09:36

It all sounds very itchy.

MiddleAgeRage · 08/02/2019 09:40

"Fancy dressing boobies" as "an act of contesting" shame. What a pile of steaming horse shit.
