This means that the twitter account of such an important charity has likely been report targetted by TRAs.

It means that women at risk searching for the account on Twitter will not find the Freedom Programme and also that their tweets will be hidden to many.

Freedom Program now seem to be unable to tweet at all.
I don't think its a coincidence that today is the 'Womens' March.

It would be good if people on Twitter would advise those involved with the Women's March.
There are a lot of Tweets from organisers talking about the importance of standing up for all women, especially those whose voices are not heard.

They should be aware of what is happening to this important charity.

I closed my twitter account last year when I decided I didn’t want to be part of a platform that silenced women. We don’t need twitter, we managed without it for a very long time.

GrinitchSpinach · 19/01/2019 20:39

Meghan Murphy's site, FeministCurrent, has been down most of the day, too. Does have somewhat of a whiff of "let's shut troublesome women up on Women's March day."

When you peak trans all over again 😳

Bowlofbabelfish · 19/01/2019 21:09

There’s a photo on KF of our favourite Canadian tampon enthusiast standing with the cofounder of Twitter.

Much speculation on there about how that specific person has so much pull at Twitter.

I initially thought GDPR was a great law - now I’m not so sure. It seems to provide the perfect mechanism for ‘being forgotten.’

userschmoozer · 19/01/2019 21:31

Hey guess what...they've blocked a bunch of GC women.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 19/01/2019 21:53

Twitter and their tech bro ilk are a disaster,

Male toddlers in suits creating societal and political institutions for their own ends to replace the traditional pillars of democracy that evolved over thousands of years, without informed consent or piloting their proposals, whilst accruing enormous personal wealth at the expense of the majority of citizens by refusing to pay their fair share of taxes - what could possibly go wrong?

womanformallyknownaswoman · 19/01/2019 21:55

Women? the tech class say - you mean there's another human species to be considered? We just consider them our property to do with as we wish - and we wish to not consider them at all

CisMyArse · 19/01/2019 22:00

I feel sick. I know we all do.
You only have to surf the relationships board to see how many lives have been changed for the best because of the Freedom Program. Lives of women who have perhaps NEVER involved themselves in the gender politics debate.

Fucking BASTARDS for suspending the account. What can we do? How can we hurt twitter? How dare they try and silence a voice that supports victims. Sick of this.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 19/01/2019 22:03

Twitter are chipping away at their own credibility here

PatPhoenix · 19/01/2019 22:04

I'm glad Glinner is protecting his mental health but it is worth pointing out that he sounds as if he is using a blocker? Though one based on behaviour rather than whether you follow unacceptably GC accounts.

Just because I have myself thought less of Aimee challenor due to their creation of Terfblocker. But they would say it is for the same purpose, to protect their mental health.

OdeToDiazepam · 19/01/2019 22:06

A new low for Twitter

RJnomore1 · 19/01/2019 22:07

I'm not on twitter but I've been rooting round and people are using

If any of you are and are brave

No, it's a Twitter user setting not a blocker

womanformallyknownaswoman · 19/01/2019 22:13

How can we hurt twitter?

Twitter's revenue depends on advertising so a strike by all women would hurt them as well as refusing to buy from any organisation who advertises with them

R0wantrees · 19/01/2019 22:14

How can we hurt twitter?

Let people know what's happening.

Its indefensible.

Twitter is fast becoming a misogynist’s wet dream, I do hope they see sense before it’s too late.
I’m ordering the MrRight MrWrong cards from the Freedom Programme online shop £6.50x100 for leaflet dropping / stickering during Women Stand Up week and I’m so cheesed off I’ll carry on leaflet dropping after too. Twitter can’t stop grassroots actions.

stumbledin · 20/01/2019 00:04

Thanks for the explanation re "restricting". I've messaged a few women and suggest they check for info on this thread!

Have also tried to find a contact for twitter but it seems they dont advertise an email address and their facebook page has not recent posts.

I really do think if Twitter is actually going to post a statement on somebody's account they should also explain on what grounds.

It justs suggests there are no real grounds, they are just abusing their power position for political reasons.

How can tweets about support for women survivors of domestic violence need to be censored.

boldlygoingsomewhere · 20/01/2019 06:01

Twitter’s moderation has become very questionable. Glad I never bothered signing up when I contemplated it a few years ago.

Chewy, fabulous idea about the Mr Right/Mr Wrong cards. It’s a great piece of direct activism - think I will join you.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 20/01/2019 06:18

What kind of pathetic person tries to shutdown freedom program?
Seriously, what's the thought process here, Lurking Scumbags? Have you got the ladyballs to explain yourselves?

How dare women learn to recognise abuse! How dare women learn to protect themselves and their children!

We see you.

CisMyArse · 20/01/2019 08:17

R0wan what's VAWAG?

Oxytocindeficient · 20/01/2019 08:32

How can we hurt twitter? By not using it

R0wantrees · 20/01/2019 09:11

Twitter is still very influential.
It shouldn't be, but it is.
