Why do the British press hate people like me and my friends so much?

Mumsnet (or Momsnet? poster not sure) gets a special mention because although our posts might seem reasonable at first, they hide an underlying "hateful garbage" aimed at persuading "honest nice women."

For clarity, this MNetter does not wish any trans person out of existence. I do wish trans people happy lives free from discrimination in housing, employment, etc. I am not concerned about potential grandchildren.

Childless postmenopausal woman here, no chance of grandkids. I want all girls and women to have privacy and safety from men, especially the ones for whom womanhood is a fetish. I also want the almond tart recipe.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2019 10:39

I came for the feminism and stayed for the cats.

I also like almond tart. Can't make pastry to save myself though.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/01/2019 10:52

Pastry is easy. As long as you don’t use the counter top directly above your dishwasher 😖

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/01/2019 11:01

I think I just have a touch that is too heavy. Mine is tough and brittle.

I don't make it above the dishwasher (???).

AnchorMum · 14/01/2019 11:11

Pastry making requires a light feminine touch. And very cold heart hands.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 14/01/2019 11:19

And a cold counter top. Unlike the one above the bloody dishwasher when it’s been on 🥺

DayAfterTomorrow · 14/01/2019 11:21

Ah there we go. Not doing 'womanning' properly again with all our talk about things than aren't "all things woman" - like politics 'n' stuff.

LangCleg · 14/01/2019 11:33

My pastry is always too short and won't roll out.

Life is full of trials more significant than adolescent Redditors throwing wallies in my direction.

ArcheryAnnie · 14/01/2019 11:35

That seems like fairly standard "unless you center me in everything and treat me as a cross between Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa, you hate me and want to kill me and all trans people" narcissistic bullshit.

Just for the record: I don't want any almond tart recipes. I want an almond tart that someone else has made for me. (And if none of you feckkers have made me one, you clearly hate me because I'm alive, etc etc.)

Franheaton · 14/01/2019 11:46

I innocently came here wanting to discuss cleaning, unaware that such conversations were in fact gateway drugs to FULL ON HATEFUL TERFDOM. And now it is too late.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 14/01/2019 11:53

I realise this may sound mean, but the kind of person referenced in the OP (and probably their friends) have the same effect on me as those people who 'discover' religion as adults. I don't hate them, I just find them really, really annoying and wish they'd go away and proselytise somewhere else.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/01/2019 14:08

Im deeply suspicious of anything cat related now

Im obviously very easily influenced

ALMOND TART RECIPE!

GeorgeFayne · 14/01/2019 14:22

All this talk of an almond tart is LITERAL VIOLENCE to me. I'm on a low(er) carb, sugar-free diet and yes, right now, there is nothing I want more than an almond tart. Well, maybe some cake, too.

I thought you would be kind and supportive British mums to this poor American mother who is trying to drop the baby weight. I now see you truly are a nest of vipers!

Knicknackpaddyflak · 14/01/2019 14:25

When your entire sense of existence is predicated on whether or not a total stranger is prepared to abandon reality and validate you...

Refusing to enter into a codependent relationship with you, or to allow you to coercively control what I think, feel and say, isn't 'hating you'. Not letting you have your unconditional own way is not 'hating you'. It's normal, healthy, social boundaries. Most mentally healthy people don't have a problem in understanding this.

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:28

Has anyone explained treacle tart to you yet, George? Not that I'd want to be unhelpful or anything...

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/01/2019 14:35

Oh angry is completely right george

Treacle tart...or syrup sponge and custard

Oh ma god!!!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/01/2019 14:36

Syrup must be one of your 5 a day

Isnt it

Its like a vegetable

VickyEadie · 14/01/2019 14:39

Treacle tart doesn't appeal to me so much now I'm 8 years past menopause - one of the very few (possibly the only) positive side-effects is that I don't like things to be (whispers) too sweet.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/01/2019 14:41

vicky

😧

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:41

5 a day, UK style

Chips
Biscuits with chocolate
Biscuits without chocolate
Curry
Just plain chocolate
Sticky toffee pudding?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/01/2019 14:42

Coffee is actually a bean so one of your 5 a day

Chocolate is actually a bean so one of your 5 a day

Thats like verifiable fact

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:42

(I introduced my non-British DH to sticky toffee pudding and his first words were "where has this been all my life?")

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/01/2019 14:42

Wine is grapes...so thats one as well

Again...fact

AngryAttackKittens · 14/01/2019 14:43

Tea is a leaf, and thus virtuous.
