Anyone watching?
They've had the girls doing the same lessons as the boys in Victorian times, then housewifery lessons in Edwardian days, and Suffrajitsu (who knew?).
Looks like their consciousnesses are being raised.
I've only watched one episode so far but the girls were quite moving.

Got a link? It sounds interesting.

We watched it last night
The girls were sentnt out of the science lessons to learn laundry and nappy changing

littlbrowndog · 11/01/2019 20:28

And the teacher who was married had to leave her job
But was very interesting

Yes. I was quite shocked at how some things moved backwards.

It was good in the last episode to hear the girls 'appreciate' being taught science ion the modern day having realised how wrong it was to not be allowed to learn it.

My y9 DD is watching it too. She found the 'preparing the boys for war' stuff interesting as she has just been learning about how Hitler militarised schooling in Germany. She also though the boys were getting to do all the fun/interesting stuff.

Ou yeps the boys doing keep fit in a military fashion

JustKeepSwimmingJustKeepSwimmi · 11/01/2019 20:40

Whats minimum age for this do you think?

TeenTimesTwo · 11/01/2019 20:58

8 maybe?
It isn't particularly in depth, but you do have to listen to the commentary.

We saw the first one. We need to catch up on iplayer. I was surprised how inspectors thought it was best to stop girls doing science. One sort of imagines everything moving forward through time rather than back. We seem to have a bit of things going backwards thing going on at the moment with all the gender stereotyping in schools at the moment.
