TW Jennifer Boylan, who transitioned in her early 40s & calls herself a lesbian, has made out like a bandit thanks to being transgender. She wrote a best-selling memoir about transitioning, got a tenured position at an Ivy League university, became a regular columnist for the prestigious NYTimes, & has been showered with accolades, awards & paid speaking gigs. Since her son announced he's a woman too, Boylan now also has the ultimate trophy child, one who validates Boylan's own gender identity & choices.
In a previous column, Boylan portrayed herself an authority on how males & females experience sexual pleasure because of her unique status "as someone who's had sex both as a man and as a woman"
. She typically bases the myriad arrogant claims she makes in her columns solely on her own personal experience & that of her small circle consisting of her family, & a occasionally a colleague or student. Coz a trans person's "lived experience" is all that matters. Solipsism on steroids.
Boylan fathered two children & now claims she's their mother
. But in this column she shows a decidedly unmaternal lack of concern for other people's children - & a total cluelessness about what's going with teenage girls in the anglophone world today. A responsible, curious & compassionate journalist would've interviewed Lisa Littman & mental health experts who work with gender-confused teen girls; & also would've reached out to young women who rushed into transitioning suddenly in their teens - they're not hard to find online. But since the phenomenon Boylan thinks is too phony to investigate only affects natal females, why bother? Who gives an eff about them? Not Boylan:
